Telus Radio Update: Man, this Radio has kick *** data speeds! I love it! But....I'm going to try the Verizon one one more time....why? Because the Telus ROM randomly drops to 1x from EVDO ALOT while I'm tethering, like out of the blue, and then I have to disconnect and reconnect to get back to EVDO.

Sprint Radio only did this occasionaly and I don't recall any 1x drop on the Verizon one. Like I said, i love the data speed and I love the reception (linked?) but, while on my laptop, the thing will just slowwww down like, say, 4-5 times within an hour of tethering. Annoying.

Good Radio though if you can stand it, or don't tether.

It location!

I had flashed to the latest Sprint Radio after reading that someone else from the Boston area was having great luck with it. I think battery life may have been better and possibly even internet speed, but obviously the heat and dead battery were an issue.

Then again, it only happened while I was at home and connected to the Airave fem-to-cell device. Maybe it's that!?

I am not sure being connected to the Airave would cause a heat issue, and if anything, would reduce it, as your signal strength should be a lot stronger.

Question though, you said the sprint radio had better battery life, but you couldn't have the dead battery issue?

I'm confussed.

I've gone back to the Telus radio .

I liked the newer Sprint radio, but it would randomly drop all signal on occasion and terminate calls... yeah, that sucks.

Telus worked well for me before will report back on how it compares to the Sprint 1.11

Battery usage (speed at which it decreased) might have been better most of the time, but then I'd get the random battery drain. It was as if the phone started up a data connection and just kept going until the battery was dead.

I went back to the Telus radio on my Alltel Diamond and while the data speeds are noticeably better the battery life is noticeably not as good...

Sprint radio on my phone = good signal and great battery life, but it has dropped calls and data speeds aren't that great.

Telus radio on my phone = better and more consistent signal with faster data, but the battery doesn't last.

after reading over 9000 posts in this thread, Ive come to the conclusion that the best radio depends mostly on your location. I live in a big city (Miami) and unfortunatly (wow cant believe i forgot how to write that word. no time to google spell check) i live in an area where I constantly jump from EVDO to 1x, having to force 1x for my battey to last over 6 hours. NOw... I dunno anything at all about radios, but im guesssing if I flash another one, it should be better.

My questions is, has anyone in the MIAMI area tried the radios? and if so, which one is the best for you?

WOW...9000 posts in this thread? Big thread....
Honestly though , I think this is post 1018 or something, not 9000.

And as far as best radio in the Miami area, I assume that's where you live, how about flashing to the different ones, and give us your results, that might help someone else out!!!

Lol, I'm sure he was just exaggerating a bit, but the point stands. I'm curious if anyone is in the Albuquerque, NM market has had any success. My data rate completely bl0ws badly and I'm starting to hate my phone with a passion. I think I was under the mistaken impression that ABQ already had Rev/A active.

I'm running STRAIGHT UP STOCK, no mods, nothing. Would flashing to say a Verizon radio rom give the Rev/A speed or am I just completely SOL?

I would say give it a shot. I'm in Pittsburgh, solid rev a area but with the stock radio, my signal on average is 2 bars less than with the telus radio which I am sold on. Now, data speeds are fairly similiar but if you are not getting a consistent signal, it may make the differerence between 1x data (horrible) and ev 0-2 bars. I especially notice a difference with the telus radio indoors. but you need to make sure to unlock properly and follow the instructions. it's easy to do and you can always go back if needed. I tried the Verizon radio a while back but can't comment on the difference now.

edit: according to the map on Sprint. rev a is active in your city.
