Re: Telus REV A PRL ID 5075, ID 11075 and ID 8085 (latest) Update [*Updated*]

For those having issues finding the infamous "unlock code" specific for your phone - Follow these instructions:

DOWNLOAD THE PRL UPDATE FILE TO YOUR PDA

1) Dial ##778#
2) Click "VIEW"
3) Under the "ITEM" Column - look for the ESN(HEX) - Write down that number.
4a) Use the HEX to DEC converter (LOCATED HERE ftp://ppcgeeks.com/Diamond/Users/Tob...0Converter.exe
4b) type in the HEX ESN you copied earlier into the first text box in the converter program
4c) then, click the "GO" button. The program will then convert the HEX ESN into DEC.
***MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING CAPITOL LETTERS WHEN IMPUTTING YOUR HEX ESN!***
5) Copy the DEC ESN the program generates (onto paper).
6) DIAL ##775# on your phone.
7) Enter the DEC ESN you wrote down earlier
8 ) click on "UPDATE PRL" in the item column - then press the menu button at the bottom right hand of the screen and press EDIT
9) Search for the PRL update you put on your PDA earlier
10) The file will appear in the file explorer window at the bottom - Select it and then press OK.
11) you'll need a soft reset now - everything should be fine.

I had a hard time figuring this out, so I hope these instructions help anyone having issues.

Re: Telus REV A PRL ID 5075, ID 11075 and ID 8085 (latest) Update [*Updated*]

I'm a little worried --
I was trying to update to 8085 and accidentally pointed to the zip file instead of the extracted .prl file. When I restarted teh phone the signal was all wacky and then I looked at PRL version and it was something weird, like 0776. I realized I made the error and re did the PRL update correctly to 8085.
Is there a chance that the initial update could have overridden some critical ROM data? I'm not seeing anything weird yet, but I'm worried as hell!

Please advise...
