The "Soap Box" Pitch
Let me start by first saying that Programatix at XDA has done a wonderful job of porting both 2016 and 2018. He has done these ports both effectively and quickly. By themselves, they have extended the life and utility of our phones, first with the 2016 port that was, IMO, smoother and faster, and now with the 2018 port that provides an RSS capability on the home tab. Who would think that we are basically running the same OS's as the newest phones being sold today. Even better, his ports are providing an excellent basis for advanced UI development like Co0kie's Home Tab and MaxSense, which even the new phone owners want to install. The work done by Programtix is non-trivial; there are literally hundreds of manila files that must be modded to work on our phones.

Alas, unless Programatix can be "encouraged", it looks like it will be the last port he will be doing for our phones, even though there are already rumors of another major Sense 2.5.2020 update some time later this year. I must say though, with or without any major Sense updates, I believe Programatix deserves to be "thanked" for the work he has already done. For both these reasons I am asking any users of the ROMs on this page to seriously consider making a donation of any size, small or large, here. Think of it as giving up some small luxury, maybe a coffee or beer or energy drink, for a couple of days and donating that to Programatix. After all, if you had a friend or a stranger who had done some favor for you, wouldn't you think of saying thank you by offering to buy him a beer or something if you met him at a bar? And if you are wondering, yes I have already donated myself to him.

Finally, for myself, I ask nothing more than continuing to hit the thanks button whenever I've done something you appreciate.

Notes and Links
As noted in a later post, it appears that CHT 1.8.5 does work with 2018, albeit without RSS. See that post for a suggestion on how to access RSS. If you see some interesting behavior, I'd suggest you let the developers on the CHT thread at XDA know your results, and also let me know. I'm still not going to update my Family and Friends ROM's to 2018 till the new CHT comes out. That's when we'll have our next flash party!

Please continue to let me know what you think about these new ROMs and any problems you may be observing and I'll try to figure out what's happening. Finally, if you haven't, try the new long press end key which corresponds to the Quick EndKey program on the Start menu.

Runnin 23029 2018 and evryting looks works good so far!thanks
had little quiks with peoples tab,they does not like to accept faworite people,if they has pictures,but if they do not-runs good.They updating pictures from facebook contacts easilly.
for what you guys ussing that rss hub on home screen?

I'm not having that problem with adding a contact w/picture on my People/Favorites with 23541. Must be a quirk in 23129. There is a new update of that branch, 23134. Maybe I'll upgrade to that on the next release?

Re:RSS. I'm getting my general news from CNN, my mobile news from pocketnow, my "entertainment" from Onion, and my technology updates from cnet.

I'm confused too ; I have not released an updated version of 2018 with MaxSense. There was one posting on XDA asking about this and no response, and also no discussion on a special MaxSense blog that I have access to. Long story short, I see minimal upside (you can probably get to the RSS through the program links or start menu), and possibly a large downside (freezing or crashes). Ditto for CHT, except I suspect Co0kie is actively working on an RSS widget for a future release. I'm waiting to hear something from MaxSense or CHT before doing anything.

Ok may be i'm just download new Sense 2.5.2018/21914(6.5) ? without maxsense because it is not so stable right now...or you can advise me smth else..., for example, what you use right now ? P.S. I don't use RSS , bing, twitter and other stuffs, thats why I love light roms like yours, and because where i'm leave it's (Moldova republic of, near of Ukrain) it's not popular, i'm just using Pigeon( it is good almost perfect ICQ and not only ICQ client) and SPB MS 3.x ...

Well, I definitely would not use MaxSense with SPB! Four or 5 family/friends are using MaxSense 23541 and have no issues, although they, as I suggest, soft reset daily and do a full shutdown a couple of times a week to reclaim working memory. I used SPB for a while, and would only recommend a Titanium version, probably 21895 with the start menu at the top. I'm using 2018/23541 with the new RSS feed and like it; but if you don't RSS no need in doing that.

So, in summary, if you can live with the straight Sense 2.5 UI, I'd go with Sense 2.5.2016 v2.0. You can also install CHT on that; that is what the rest of my family and friends run. Or go the titanium/21895 route with SPB. Basically 2 recommendations, with a variation on the Sense route. Ignore 2018 since you don't rss. Hope that helps.

Ok, little bugs,23129 rss not working,can not open it at all
just jumpt to 541 and bottom buttons ,meen start, phone and menu still round and grey,with dark blue line background, no skin (regular windows ) after customization ?And an settings-home-appearance only classic blue theme?Trying to reflash now,will see later...
