Re: Asurion phone fraud, watch your accounts!

I don't understand the motive for this type of fraud. You would find out soon enough, and the fraudulently acquired phone would be deactivated because it's stolen. I guess maybe the thief figures they can sell it to some sucker before anyone catches on and blacklists the phone. Hardly seems with the risk or trouble.

I know there are other threads about it, thats cool, I thought I would just remind people, especially since we have expensive TP2 which the scammers really want. I'd rather post about helping people watch their money than have another 20 post a day about when the unlocker is coming out.

They can probably ship it overseas since the phone can work on GSM or they can change the ESN number.

They charged multiple phones and accessories. You would have thought Sprint would have caught that....but they told me it was up to the customer to report. Sometimes they notice and sometimes they don't. Thats why its still being done.

The guy was so nice, that when we got disconnected, he called me back twice and even left a voicemail which I have never had happen before, especially since he was young. Normally they are happy that the line got hung up or sometimes they will actually hang up on you! I think he realized I had an expensive TP2 phone and gave my info to his buddys to pull this scam.

Is there anyone I can report my suspicion too? I hope its not him, he sounded too nice, but usually when someone is that nice they might have a sinister reason from my experience.
Sprint does have something going on inside.

Someone tried to buy 80 motorola phones from CA w/ my account (I live in NY!!), and the order actually went through. I caught it logging on to my account and they took care of it, but even the rep was saying stuff like this is an inside job.

Re: Asurion phone fraud, watch your accounts!

Doesn't sprint require a pin to make orders or tech support on a phone line. Verizon asks you twice for the info when you call.

Re: Asurion phone fraud, watch your accounts!

When I orered my phone, they woudn't even ship it to my office and the inside job person was able to ship the phones to CA. That's why me and the rep were thinking it was an inside job.
