No more free Sprint Airaves?

I seen multiple threads from not to long ago strung out all over the internet about how people with crappy signal in their homes were getting free Airaves and free service for them. I contacted Sprint 3 times yesterday, Internet Chat, Phone, and Email. All said I would have to go in store and pay $99.99 + $5 per month.

I legitimately do not have very good service in my cave called an apartment. I figured Sprint would have helped me out.

Anyone have any ideas?

sometimes you have to threaten to cancel.....just be nice about it. If you check their coverage map, and it shows you outsite the coverage, you should be golden.

Re: No more free Sprint Airaves?

I was lucky when I got mine awhile back (1 year maybe). I told the rep that I got sick of having to stand by a window or outside to use my phone. She said her mom has the same problem and got it sent to me all fees waived. I just explained the situation, no BS and threatening to cancel.

Re: No more free Sprint Airaves?

If you are in an area that shows coverage on their maps they will not budge (my experience anyway). I got my Airave free a long time ago and about a month ago I tried to do the same for my mom(who lives close to my house). We both live in a rural area and there is NO cellphone service at either of our houses(and I mean from any company). If you go either direction a half mile the phones work. Anyway I tried and tried to get them to provide my Mom with an airrave and they just would not do it because their map showed coverage. They did finally send her one for 49.99 and $5 a month so that helped but still not the deal i got.

Re: No more free Sprint Airaves?

I have an Airave and it works great. Call quality is outstanding (unless I'm streaming Roku / Netflix).

I've seen Airaves on eBay and Craigslist. You could pick one up there for a discount.

Remember, if you threaten to cancel you have to be willing to follow through.

Also, if your monthly bill is over $100.00, have been with them for awhile, and are out of contract they will be more accomodating. If you are out of contract you can use the Airave as a bargaining chip to renew.

Re: No more free Sprint Airaves?

i was about to cancel as well since only verizon phones worked at my house and had a terrible time at the store (girl was texting and calling her boyfriend while dealing with me... what's up with that?) Soon as dialed that *2 and told them I wanted to cancel and am going to att for an brand new iphone, retention rep came and soothed my anger by switching out my phone for free with a refurb model (after 1yr of purchase) and a free airave and service. He's the only reason why I kept sprint and I gotta tell you, their services are getting better. I hope they makes thing happen for you dude.
