I told verizon I want to cancel and go with AT&T

I gave Verizon a call and I told them I wanted to cancel my contract to go with AT&T's version of the phone. I told them WM6.5 was a big deal for me. They tried to get me to switch over the the Imagio. I explained for me the phone must have a keyboard. They put me on hold to see if there was anything else they could do for me. The operator came back and said she contacted the data team to ask about an upgrade. Their response was "There is no official word yet. There is a possibility it won't happen because the Imagio was just released and it has WM6.5 and the the TP2 is just a few weeks old. It may happen in the future but also not happen."

Surprisingly they didn't offer anything else to keep me as a customer. I figured they would have at least thrown in a free month or something like that to keep me.

bstan -> no offense, but the cell companies are not ignorant and don't always go for the 'I am switching' routine. I had better luck with Sprint when I asked them nicely for a $100 credit since Verizon was selling the phone for less money. I explained that I was an early adopter of the TP2 and I was fine paying full price when it was released.

The operator put me on hold, returned 90 seconds later, and credited my account $100.

I don't think I would have had the same luck if I was threating them to change carriers because of an upgrade to the OS.

Also, Wm 6.5 isnt exactly a big issue to them, especially when none of the AT&T phones have Windows Mobile 6.5 (did you consider that as your own weapon against you?)

You do know there is no 3.5 headphone jack on the ATT version .

The VZW TP2 will get 6.5, no worries there. AT&T is dropping their TP2 with it and VZW won't sit by and watch their premium WinMo fall behind other carriers over something like a upgrade rom. Besides HardSPL is coming, it's just a matter of time.
