Thankfully my Airave doesn't seem to allow international texts through, so I seem to be good as long as I don't hard reset or anything while out and about. Here's the number sent to, and messages are coded

that's interesting. thanks for the info.

Re: Sprint Mobile Email vs regular ol' direct push?

Like already mentioned, Sprint Mobile Email sends an encrypted text which is deleted/ignored, and only used as a notification event for new email. I've seen the contents of these texts when I had Sprint Mobile Email configured to push emails to my device BUT no client on the device to receive them.

Treos with PalmOS have a similar application which basically scans incoming text messages for keywords and then triggers system events depending on your configuration (ie perform a Send/Receive within the email client) - decent "push" email without the push email hit on battery life.

Ahhh, so that's how it works. I really like that method, since it doesn't keep the data connection on. Anyone know any other providers that are free and use this method? I'd really like to have HTML email and on multiple accounts.

Would this work on TELUS in Canada?

Re: Sprint Mobile Email vs regular ol' direct push?

Here's the Telus version. I believe it's done by Visto, but it should work the same way (hidden text message).

In the past, I've setup a work account and a gmail account, but went back to Seven because it adds "Send via Telus Mobile Mail" on every email (I don't know how to turn it off).

If I could remove that footer, I would be using it instead of Seven.

That's the same reason I stopped using it too.
I wish Seven releases another version with the encrypted text messages.
