I laughed too. I talked with ATT reps here in Iowa. They told me that 3g in this area is roughly 700k to 800k of speed. I laughed and walked out of the store. I get an constant 2 - 2.5 mbs of download speed from sprint.

3g is over rated and hyped up. If you want data... go sprint. If you want hype go ATT

Edit: Suppose I should clarify since Sprint is using the "3g" label in their commercials now... ATT 3g is hyped up

Not sure where you're located, but AT&T isn't even in the same league as Verizon here. My data speeds easily double and triple some of my clients who have AT&T.

Re: Worth it to go from vz to at&t

Aye, AT&T is lying through their *** when they say they have the fastest 3G network. AT&T is the VZW of the GSM networks. I'm afraid I'm going to have to agree with most of the people on this forum and say Sprint is the way to go. It's the cheapest and fastest. Service in the city-regions is on par with Verizon as well.

I would take CDMA over GSM any day, I never had reliable data with AT&T or T-Mobile

Re: Worth it to go from vz to at&t

I have ATT and i am happy with my 3g speeds. The coverage where i am is excellent, and the 3g speeds are around 1.5mbps down 450kbps up. I am not much of a data person though.. why would i need more than 1.5mbps on my cell phone either way.. even for tethering thats quite fast.

Same here, all those ads claiming ATT to be the fastest are so inaccurate, Sprint beats them in every speed test shown by testers on youtube--TP vs. Fuze --completely same devices, same browsers, both in a place with perfect reception for both carriers, and sprint beat em (though not by much, but still).

Anyway, Verizon may have better reception, but if you go to Spring, you could just add unlimited roaming for $3 more on your plan, and you'd still be paying a lot less then than you are now. I haven't had to roam for a long time, that most recent time was in Canada for a weekend and that worked great!

I HAD to drop Sprint when they had no more towers out in my area...they some how reduced coverage leaving my business without wireless communication. I did not move, but towers were few and far between.

I did like the rate plans, hated the customer service BS, and really got pissed when I dould not even get messages on my phone....never mind the 11 refurbed Moguls...they somehow got past QC.

Verizon absolutely has the best coverage here but the HTC TP is pretty strangled due to their monopolistic behavior.

Well I best that on:

Rev A can cap at between 2.4 Mbits/S
HSDPA can cap at 7.2 Mbits/S

So in theory, ATT can be faster.....and around my area with full 3G coverage for both, our ATT aircard is slightly faster then the Sprint one.

STILL GET SPRINT ITS BETTER!
