anyways, i am very very fortunate, asureon is replacing it one last time (this happened within a week of the prior replacement). But they have notified me that they are declining to offer the Total Equipment Protection plan to me any longer. I now am scared to own this phone without insurance and would like to know if anyone on this board has an alternative provider of personal article insurance. I wouldn't mind insuring my desktop PC and laptop also. it would have to be a company with rates competitive to that of asureons (no 200 dollar deductables or anything crazy)

Just out of curiosity, what were you doing in Mexico and what part did you stay at?

Probably would be interesting to most that Mexico only uses GSM phones, so no resident could use a CDMA phone in Mexico. Also most Mexican plans are pay as you go, no one really uses plans unless it's a company who needs celly's for their employees.

Re: Insurance option besides Asureon?

Homeowners is the best way to go. State Farm insured my phone for a whopping $30 per year deductible. The agent told me typically cell phones are already covered by your existing homeowners if they are stolen from home. I paid the extra for three layers of protection (Warranty, TEP, State Farm). I see broken phones all the time so I cover all of my bases.

If you think that's cool, look into blanket coverage for computers/electronics. My renter's insurance includes up to $1,000 in coverage with no deductible for all of my PC's and electronics. It even includes damage from drops or spills!

The sad part is that they could've been legit (corrupt) & tourist/foreigners are easy pickings.

BTW how they heck did you get dropped from TEP?!
