Re: Sprint 5GB internet cap

I believe that most people are totally misunderstanding this. As quoted above, "We are enforcing the existing terms and conditions for phone plans. We are placing a limit of 300 MB per month on the amount of data use allowed while roaming off network as well as a 5 GB per month limitation on total wireless data usage for Sprint's connection and phone as modem plans." This has nothing to do with the amount of data that someone can use on their handset. This has to do with people using their phones to tether with ICS and with a PAM plan. This is why I simply refuse to purchase a PAM plan because of this limit in the Terms and Conditions. I do use my Mogul to tether but it is basically just to get to sites that my Mogul cannot get to (i.e. school website, etc). If everyone would use their phone that way instead of using gobs and gobs of data tethering we probably would not be having this discussion at this point. If the Terms and Conditions negatively changes to allow a 5GB cap on the handset I would seriously encourage everyone to downgrade their plans and be a real PITA to the customer service at Sprint with your rants and raves.

Damn, you're late. I think you need a new Sprint rep.

Correct. And note that it's a shared plan, line 2 shows the 1023998976 remaining, whereas line 1 shows unlimited.

Yea sorry about my misunderstanding... I read that wrong!

I still don't get why the would give you such a random number as a limit though... I'm pretty sure that capping it off at 1TB isn't going to affect many at all!

Tis ok, I was flipping through previous posts trying to determine who used that much data!
I didn't do the math nor recognize the formatting error to realize that was referencing me.

As for that number, I'm not sure either. When the new plan kicked in, we switched from "Fair and Flexible 800min" w/ data on Line 1 and no extra features on Line 2 to the "Talk Share Data 3000" plan, which is supposed to be 3000 minutes and unlimited everything else.

The switch happened on Line 1, but Line 2 was still showing F&F 800 until I called Sprint to have it corrected. That's when they put the 1TB cap on Line 2 w/ unlimited everything else. *shrug*

Too bad they never 'accidently' give me 1023998976 minutes.

Re: Sprint 5GB internet cap

Is this just for phones or are they capping data usage for their aircards too?
