Re: How To: Use another carriers HTC on VZW
I'm trying to get the DMU key loaded onto the sprint touch. I can not figure out what aplication to open. Bitpim doesn't work and when I installed QSPT there are so many different little programs under the start menu. Please help me.

Well I'm gonna try this out if I can find an Alltel phone.
Haha, my collection of Apache's is almost as big as yours. |

Re: How To: Use another carriers HTC on VZW
1) I wonder if this will work to use the Sprint HTC Touch Pro on Verizon's network.
2) I also wonder if this will work to use the unbranded HTC Touch Pro (CDMA version with front mount camera) to use on Verizon's network. If this does work, this will definitely make my day! It's just so frustrating to find out that Verizon is dead last to come out with phones other carriers have already have, and once they finally do, it's a watered down version! Someone please let me know about my 2 questions. :) |

Re: How To: Use another carriers HTC on VZW
Hum... well now that I found that Verizon would just accept my PPC-6700 (from Sprint) with open arms, I've been tinkering around with the ideas of getting Verizon to allow me to subscribe to VCast service on it (so I can get my "emergency data" plan like usual - Bluetooth tethering). God knows I'm not gonna pay $40+ per month for something I'll only use once in a while...
So "method" (involving ESN and one of my other VX8300's) aside, I now have VCast subscribed on my Apache, and service (phone/SMS) works great. Just for one small (big, rather) problem! Whenever I try to connect to the internet via "Cellular Line", I get a message from Sprint saying "Error Code: 67 / Registration failure. Your PCS Vision username and/or password may be incorrect. Please try again". How on earth did my Apache even remember anything about Sprint? It's been fully flashed in every corner of the device... there's no traces left of Sprint that I know if (I updated radio/ExtRom/OS with the latest Verizon XV6700 ROM, first time I ran it I let it fully "customize", then I hard-reset it and selectively installed customizations that give me features instead of stripping...). The only trace I found was in nvm_htc which had a Sprint URL in it. The OP's post regarding editing nvm_htc is very very vague and I don't exactly understand what needs to be done in the hex editor (which I'm plenty proficient in using, btw). I found SPCS_001 in the file and replaced it with "11111111", but I'm not sure if that's what needed to be done, as I still get the error. More details and a longer writeup is originally written on this post on pdaphonehome.com... Halp? |

Also going in small and frustrating circles regarding trying to update the ERI here. Whenever I dial ##eri, it just makes a phone call. I tried EPST.EXE ##374 (##eri) and it just flashes the EPST screen and goes away in a split second. It seems like the ERI is somewhat important.
How can I get that ERI updated on this f**ing thing? It's beyond frustrating and I'm going in small, frustrating, and pointless circles trying to get it working. I didn't have to do any "unlocking" (supercid) to put other roms on it either... I guess that's the benefit of a 1.00 bootloader. Please please post a reply of some kind here, I'm really dying to get this working. It's so close I can feel it. I do want to get rid of this aging Apache but I don't want to let it go with such a simple problem... :P |
