The se47 program will not work on 6800 or 6900 only on 6700's. To change on xp go to control panel/ system/ hardware/ device management and find the phone. Right click it and you change the com port under advanced. The com port needs to be 2 for a 6700 with se47 program only. To detect the phone make sure you have the drivers installed from post#1 if you have xp. Put it in dm mode which is ##diag (vzw) or ##diag# (sprint) and it should display in qpst you might have to click add new port for the phone to be visable.

"5) Upload prl via ##prl and load off memory card or use active sync to add it to my docs then do ##prl to load it. After prl load dial a *228 option 1 after the esn change has been done on your account. Do a ##eri to update eri the same way as prl update from memory card or active sync on phone then load it off of phone from ##eri. PRL & ERI are attached to bottom of post."

I have followed all the steps up to this point and everything updated successfully, including the prl. When I try to update the eri, I select the file and click okay. It asks if I want to "update the items" and I select "Yes". I get an error saying "Write Item 'Update ERI' error." Am I doing something wrong, or could the eri from your post be incompatible? I have attempted it multiple times. Thanks for any help! The how-to is great!

Re: How To: Use another carriers 6700 on VZW

I have not figured out how to 100% of the time load the vzw eri on another carriers 6700. I have converted about 40 now and only had succesfully loaded the eri about 30% of the time. I have tried everything including the vzw PRI ppst update. Use this for reference I got 3 brand new midwest wireless 6700's never before in service and identical in every way and only one would load the eri. I found 0 differences in the software and hardware before or after conversion or in the EFS. However the eri is non-essential to have the phone fully operational on vzw it just wont show the verizon wireless banner.

Thought I would update for everyone: I got an Alltel PPC 6800 on VZW. Here's how:

1) Logged into VZW My Business Account
2) Account Maintenance
3) Step 1: Enter cellphone number, click search
4) Action: Activate Equipment
5) Enter HEX ESN from Alltel phone
6) Ran through http://ppc.stoleyour.net/xv6800/ instructions to update radio, rom and carrier cab (thanks to Lord Cruik Shank nice howto)
7) Ran through http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=20090 Steps 5 - 7 to load the DMU Key with QPST (thanks to drellisdee)
8) ##778 Edit Security HDR Password to HEX ESN

Everything seems to be working I haven't tested the speed but EV stays on the screen. I also haven't test GPS yet. Will report back later.

Everything is work A-OK the PPP password should be blank and HDR should be vzw. I did have to call vzw and have them reset my DMU key after i flashed a couple diffrent times. I tried loading the 10.key again but it didn't work.

After vzw reset mu DMU key I had data.

GPS works great .. did the reg edit hack and seems to lock on faster then without. just FYI.

Thanks.

Incorrect after a *228 it will rewrite the ppp and hdr usernames. The first time it attempts a data connection on vzw it will write the correct aaa and ha evdo key after you put a vzw dmu key on it. I've done it over 40 times on apaches, titans and vogues. This will not work if the phone has ever been on vzw before then it requires a dmu reset.

Does anyone know if this method will work for the Diamond? I really want the
Diamond from Sprint since its a superior phone rather than the POS Verizon plans to release

Your assuming that the leaked information is correct. I have started hearing lately that the early info was incorrect. It is still all rumors though, at least for now.

I'm sure its gonna be the case considering Verizon is gonna be pushing the Blackberry Storm and they have to sell a certain number of them to keep it exclusively. It just makes sense to me but I hope I'm wrong.

If you are having ERI (roaming indicator) problems here is a rough workaround that I've put together for my converted sprint -> verizon 6900
