I'd give him written instructions on how to flash the shipped ROM back on to the device. If you flashed a custom ROM, a hard reset just resets the current ROM, he should still be able to activate it with Sprint though, but I'd have him flash shipped, then do the esn swap online, should work fine. |

Re: I need some help to help a friend...
Here's what I would suggest:
1. Hard reset the phone 2. Install the Sprint Update Profile cab 3. Activate the phone while it is powered off 4. Turn on phone and run a profile update That should be all he needs to do, I would think.

Not necessarily. This would be something to try w/o having to reflash.

Re: I need some help to help a friend...
customer care can do the esn swap and should provide programming info. in some cases the unlock code can be time sensitive. make sure he is pressing ##000000# (zero placeholder for actual unlock code). if they are only providing a msl they may be providing u with the wipe code that is entered after ##786# which is just used to factory reset. once the ##000000# is entered it should show a screen that says view or edit. select edit andit will ask for mdn and msid which will have to b provided by sprint cust care. hope that helps...maybe was just an issue with communication. otherwise have him take it to a store. we r here to help.
