I'm thoroughly convinced that the guy who made the Twitter quote was a time traveler, who came back to try & discourage the world from indulging in one more form of douchebaggery.

That said, I have a Twitter :/

I think Sprint messed up badly by going alone with WiMax and they'll probably end up in bankruptcy court since the users who want 4G will probably want the fanciest phones, which most likely will operate on LTE.
I've been concerned about this ever since Verizon announced they were going LTE. Sprint does not have enough weight to be the odd man out. Additionally, Sprint + Verizon roaming is a strong network. Sprint's network is good, but virtually all networks have holes. There will be nobody in the US operating any significant option for roaming. Additionally, the global direction for both GSM and CDMA carriers is LTE. I don't think you'll be seeing much in the way of hot WiMax phones.

Re: Whats the big deal with 4G?

hey, I didnt read the thread, but one of the benefits to 4g is that you can be on the phone talking and on the internet at the same time.

its probably been said already, but that was my 1.5 cents.

later.

Re: Whats the big deal with 4G?

Also guys don't forget with Verizon/ATT/and T-Mobile (I believe) all on the LTE 4G bandwagon expect 4G coverage to be impeccable. Sprint on the other hand is doing WiMax which I honestly don't know if it's proved itself but I guess we will see.

Not to mention the fact that HTC prefers working with GSM.

Re: Whats the big deal with 4G?

Wimax is worldwide, just not worldwide on the cell market. Japan is almost 100% covered in Wimax, but its for mobile internet. Almost all of Europe has a pretty strong coverage, except for England. What sprint is doing is moving their service more towards a VOIP based system. This is brilliant if you ask me, as it opens up the technology to be 100% IP based systems.

LTE was developed specifically for the cellular telephone market, where WiMax was designed to be mobile internet and is being adapted to be a telephone. With the way I see businesses going to VOIP for their office lines, etc every day in my job, I love the idea of WiMax 4G coming.

youre a little confused. 80% of the world uses lte while 20% wimax. in europe voice ove ip is already being used over lte. lte was also designed for voip. and as i already stated being used by some already.
