maybe rename it in the phone and then replug to windows to copy paste to all the folders. see if it will let me do that
I'm sure there's a fairly easy way to do it directly in Android. I can't think of one off the top of my head, but I'm sure it would involve adb shell and some fancy voodoo to /sdcard .

Either way, it is kind of a dumb behavior. It would be easier if it was the other way around... c'est la vie... About the only actual solution is hyc's patch, which as I said was rejected... I guess if you wanted to keep your own local tree. Sounds like a lot of pain for this (admittedly) stupid behavior.

Re: TP2 will not go into sleep mode with FRX07 kills battery, any advice?

ok added the .nomedia (once I renamed it on the phone I could then use windows to copy paste it to all my folders except music and wallpapers and media)

no joy the list is still full of all my crap. NOW it may have saved this from its first scan ?? how do I wipe it and make it rescan (and hopefully ignore the folders with .nomedia

will it ignore any SUBFOLDERS in a folder with .nomedia in it?

I don't know if it'll ignore subfolders to be honest.

You probably have to re-run the mediascanner... The only way I remember to do that was thru Dev Tools, there's an APK in AndroidApps\Other.

I opened market clicked android and could not find an "other" grrr

then it hit me when I recalled seeing a folder called AndroidApps in the FRX07 folder

its a file called Development.apk running the scannar now (I think its doing something)

Have you ever seen a green LED?
Apologies for hijacking a thread, but I believe it is relevant.

I'm having the same problem with the device never entering the sleep mode (green led), and thus the battery draining quickly. I have BT disabled in WinMo & disabled all location services (GPS & Network) in XDAndroid. I have never seen a green LED in XDAndroid, though. It is always orange. Is there anything else I can check to allow the device to enter sleep mode?

Re: TP2 will not go into sleep mode with FRX07 kills battery, any advice?

I found many times its an "active program" not behaving or our android version not knowing how to deal with it ???

I set my memory management pretty aggressively so for the most part I have no running apps in the background and it goes to sleep find.

network location does NOT stop it from sleeping GPS stops it dead (I hope they can fix that in future versions)

Be sure to boot WinMo with BT off too and never enable it in WinMo. Turning it off in WinMo before starting XDAndroid is not enough.

Yea, the only other thing would be a rouge app, as mentioned above...

auburnham, make sure you're on the newest stuff and that's all I can recommend. My phone always sleeps just fine. To test it out, rename your data.img to data.img.bak. Then boot, and wait...wait...wait... and eventually you should see the LED go solid green.

Re: TP2 will not go into sleep mode with FRX07 kills battery, any advice?

Thanks for everyone's feedback. I went through all running processes one-by-one, killing, then trying to sleep. The phone finally slept after killing "Media Storage". This may be related to another issue: No music is showing up in the Music app, though Media Scanner is running. There are no ".nomedia" files in any of my folders.
Now that the phone sleeps, I'll start investigating the music files. Thanks again for everyone's help.

Shawn

Re: TP2 will not go into sleep mode with FRX07 kills battery, any advice?

I believe this problem was caused by the Media Scanner program getting hung on a bad media file and restarting repeatedly. This resulted in the device not going to sleep and no music files being indexed. I resolved the problem by putting ".nomedia" files in all of my media directories (music, photos, video), and removing them one by one to see which was causing the problem. In my particular case, it was a picture, so I narrowed it down by using the Gallery app. Before, the Gallery app would appear to be constantly looking for new pictures/video and would be unresponsive at times. After resolving the issue, the Gallery app quickly finishes looking for new media and is very responsive. I also have all of my music indexed now.
