Re: Mod gingerbread with 3d driver plus gralloc.12.29.10

Gingerbread is nice looking, but here are a few things that I notice about this build so far: getting some almost SOD-like experience especially during syncing processes, regular Launcher's telephone icon says program not installed (like it's not mapped to the dialer program), not rooted already like the other older version builds (I guess I'm spoiled... Ha!). Impressive work though! Can't wait to see this as it develops.

Re: Mod gingerbread with 3d driver plus gralloc.12.29.10

Not sure if anyone else had fun figuring out the Sprint APN settings tiad8 mentions in the install instructions but I ended up grabbing them from my last running XDAndroid setup, see below. My apologies if this is a repost...

Name: Android
APN: internet

Username: *
Password: *
Server: *
MMSC: null
MMS Proxy: <not set>
MCC: 310

Re: Mod gingerbread with 3d driver plus gralloc.12.29.10

Tried the build, but getting kernel panic when running haret. I have all the files at the root of the sd card. Ran npkinstall/install.exe first. After reboot, ran haret.exe from the root of the sd card. I'm having sprint tp2(rhod400), so using tiad's startup.txt.

Missing anything obvious?

UPDATE: Fixed. I first had the files in andboot folder and was getting kernel panic. I moved them to the root of the sd card (but didn't run install.exe again) and was still getting kernel panic. Running install.exe with all the files in the root of sd card that took care of the problem. Device is now booting into android...

Re: Mod gingerbread with 3d driver plus gralloc.12.29.10

tiad8, thanks and appreciate all your efforts to provide a better Android experience.
I have followed each step as you described.
Here is what I did..
Formatted 7.4GB sd card with 1GB ext2 & rest fat32. Unzipped everything from your package and put it on fat32 partition. Chose haret (install) from teh npkinstall folder and the it goes into a boot loop without getting to the android gui. So copied startup from programfile to the sdcard root and ran haret. Android loads fine (can see gingerbread). However, from time to time, processes crash and battery levels are incorrect (example-windows shows 45% vs android shows around 80%). Incoming/outgoing calls work as well as wifi. However, there is no 3G data. Tried fiddling with APN settings but still no luck.
As for gingerbread performance, the apps are sluggish and take a while to load. wifi performance is slow too. I am not sure if I am doing anything wrong or missed something. It is definitely not the same performance as in your videos. Installing angry birds from the market takes for ever over wifi.

I am on sprint using touch pro 2. Any ideas how to setup apn or bring up 3G data?

1-Formatted 7.4GB SD card with 1GB ext2 & rest fat32....... FIRST FAT32 THEN EXT2 (TRY 310MD) BOTH HAVE TO BE PRIMARY PARTITION

2-Chose haret (install) from teh npkinstall folder and the it goes into a boot loop without getting to the android gui............. GO TO NPKINSTALL RUN HARET. USE MY INSTALL STARTUP.

3- So copied startup from programfile to the sdcard root and ran haret....... THERE ARE 2 STARTUP. ONE IS TO INSTALL GINGERBREAD IN NPKINSTALL FOLDER AND THE OTHER IS IN LOCATION IN PROGRAM FILE.

VERY IMPORTANT. LEAVE THE STARTUP FROM PROGRAM FILE THERE. GO TO NPKINSTALL FIRST TO INSTALL. WHEN INSTALL IS FINISH IT WILL BOOT BACK TO WM THEN YOU CAN TAKE THE STARTUP AND PUT IT IN ROOT SD CARD.

4-windows shows 45% vs android shows around 80%)...........USE MY BATTERY TRICK. IF ON WM YOU 50% WHEN YOU BOOT INTO ANDROID YOU WILL HAVE 80%, 90% ETC.. LET IT SYNC IN. IT ALWAYS GOOD TO CHARGE YOUR PHONE TO FULL IN WM FOR BEST RESULT. I GET AROUND 12-16 HRS WITH NORMAL USE.

5-As for gingerbread performance, the apps are sluggish and take a while to load. wifi performance is slow too. I am not sure if I am doing anything wrong or missed something. It is definitely not the same performance as in your videos. Installing angry birds from the market takes for ever over wifi.................... YES WE KNOW GINGERBREAD NEEDS MORE WORK. I'M REALLY IMPRESS WITH THIS BUILD.

MY PRIMARY ROM IS (FRX03). THEN GINGERBREAD. I'LL TELL YOU, GINGERBREAD'S DATA IT FAST. SO FAR FOR ME IT WORKING GREAT.

I'M TRYING TO FIX A FEW THINGS RIGHT NOW IN THIS BUILD. IF THIS WORKS FOR ME, WE WILL HAVE A MACHINE.

THANKS

Did you try JaYbOmBz's APN settings (today's post)? I used that and my 3G works, albeit with very very slow transfer speeds. I have same slow connection over wifi.

I just tried and 3G worked. Thanks to both of you. 3G is slow for me too.
