Re: HTC Sense
You can get sound on the version with SenseUI. All you have to do is download and replace the zImage file. Download the 4/23 version of Android, install it, run it once if that is your preference (or not, it really doesn't matter) and then download the zImage and modules (bundled together) and replaced the existing ones in the andboot directory on your sdcard. All your settings will remain intact and you will get sound.
As for downloading SenseUI separately, I don't believe so. I'm using the 2.1 build with SenseUI built in (not sure of the date) with the replaced zImage and modules.gz per the basic instructions above and it works like a champ. Unfortunately, I still learning by trying (and searching the forums). I am not familiar with a system.sqsh. Did I do something wrong? |

Basically the older builds used the sqsh file system - so they were system.sqsh files. The newer builds use the ext2 file system, so the file is system.ext2. You're trying to use a very old build, so I'm assuming that was still using sqsh. Long story short, those sqsh/ext2 files are all you really need from a Sense build to get Sense working - now that's no guarantee that everything else is going to work... To my knowledge, the Sense builds were abandoned long ago because they were very unstable and generally unpleasant to use. |
