that would do it. that device does not TRANSMIT location data. you need to connect to normal "towers"

Have you tried without the Airave?

Now for the dumb question - is Settings -> Location & Security -> Use wireless networks checked?

LBS works fine for me (as of FRX07, new RIL ;)), but I don't have an Airave...

Had to go out, so I gave it a try and it does indeed work when I'm not using my Airave. I can't get service without the Airave at the house so it wasn't a very easy test at home :)

Yea, like nerys said - those devices are more VoIP gateways - they utilize your broadband internet connection in order to get voice/data traffic out from your phone. If your phone is registered to the Airave, there are obviously no towers being used, therefore no location data from the non-existent tower :p.

I tried searching, but I didn't find this issue:

I copied over startup.txt, ran Haret.exe, and successfully booted into Android. I used it for hours today, and then turned off my device.

Now, I went back to run Haret.exe again, and my setup.txt file was 0 bytes, meaning it was deleted/cleared out? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

True, but they do have GPS built into them and Sprint uses that location to configure the Airave based on it location. Basically to make sure they use the correct signal frequency. Was just hoping you could get that info from them, but you can't.

I'm not sure what causes this - had it happen to me a few times the other day. I was blaming Gen.Y - are you using that WinMo application...?

Either way, just grab the startup file again. I think if you make a copy of the startup.txt and name it default.txt it'll kinda circumvent this "bug". Whatever-the-hell is the cause...

Interesting, I wouldn't think they would need to know the location of the device... so long as your connection has enough bandwidth, I wouldn't think the device would care...

Oh well. I guess I'd be curious if it does work in WinMo? netloc, not GPS. If it does on your Airave, perhaps we are missing something - but I don't know if that'll get fixed, it's far from "critical" ;).

I just tried it in WinMo and it doesn't work there either. Took me a while to figure out how to turn off GPS, but when I did, I get the same message your current location unknown.

Well its me again with a couple more questions.

I can't get my gmail calendar to sync with my phone properly. The contacts sync fine, but not the calendar. If I create a new appointment on the phone or on the web, it will sync properly, but the appointments that get sync'd by the google calendar sync, which are created on Outlook, don't get pushed to my phone, but do show up on the web.

What am I missing?

A second question. I tried to get my phone to show up on my Win7 box as a mass USB drive, but can't get it to work. I turned off "debug when connected to USB" and do get a message when I plug it in now that says "Turn on USB storage", when I hit that it just spins forever. Is this possible to do? Currently I've been booting into WinMo every time I need to transfer a file from the PC <-> Phone.

thanks for the support,
dave

Hrm, that's an odd one for sure. I don't have any problems with Calendar stuff syncing, but I've also never created any appointments from/thru Outlook. If they show up on the web, I would think they would sync to your phone - perhaps there's some settings on the web for the Calendar...?

How would you even create a appointment in Outlook that bleeds over to GMail? Do you just add your personal email address to be invited...? We're switching to Outlook soon @ work, perhaps I can try to replicate this then :p.

This doesn't work. You can 'fake' USB mass storage with Droid Explorer. Please read the FAQ.

Outlook: I use the Google Calendar Sync tool that syncs Outlook on my PC (I don't use exchange) to the web. I just add the people on the event and they get copies, google calendar handles it all quite well.

I get updates to my phone, it's just that I don't get the already existing event in my calendar. Its odd. I need to find a way to force google to re-sync everything, not just the things it thinks have changed.
