Soooo ok? I'm going to stick with what works for me, you stick to what works for you. 2.37WV works much better than 2.32. Perhaps you just need a PRL update dude...

Seriously read thru the OMGB thread and see how many people have praised 2.37... It's outrageous.

Actually I started experiencing problems after flashing 2.37 too. In WinMo it constantly hangs up the phone. When I look at CPU usage I see services.exe using 99.5% CPU. I flashed 2.37 3 days ago and today I had to soft reset in WinMo 6 times, since the phone was non-responsive. Is 2.37 a possible cause of this?

Seriously doubtful, but if you think it's the problem just flash back the old radio you had.

Ok now I'm unable to delete data.img, tried via USB, WM and SD slot on my wife's netbook and every time it is removed in the window....check through file explorer and the sob is still there. Then I tried to wipe my SD card through a forced delete, then tried formatting and both failed.....worried I may have to get a new SD card, any other suggestions?

I've never seen this on a microSD, but is there a switch to make it read-only?

What were you using to format? How did it fail? Full/quick?

Do you have another card to test with?

Sc/ant864 12-15-2011 08:39 PM

No switch, full format failed halfway through on standard windows vista properties. No spare card, which is why I'm freaking out. I also noticed something I've never seen before on the SD is (.android_secure) at the top of my list in SD contents.

.android_secure is perfectly normal.

The built-in Windows format utilities are complete and utter crap. Use the HP Tool... go for another full format.

If it helps console you any, SD cards are cheap. I picked up my C4 8GB Kingston that came with a USB-to-microSD and fullsize SD to microSD for ~$20 2 years ago. Good luck.

Sc/ant864 12-15-2011 08:49 PM

Thanks again man totally forgot about HP tool, fingers crossed.
Edit- HP tool failed as well, I guess at this point it has to be the SD card went poopy.

Bought a class 4 Sandisk 8gig micro sdhc for $16 at Wally world, but I'm back to frx06 right now. I really hope I can fix my old Sandisk 8gig....I hate losing money on electronics.
Edit- Back on frx07 and all is well.

Flashing 2.32 back resolved the problems in WinMo

This going to be somewhat off-topic but I thought it was important to share. I figured out why I couldn't delete or format my old SD card. Apparently I had to go into the properties of the card and allow sharing permissions full access...why this isn't default I have no idea but that was the culprit. Also it seems all new Sandisk sdhc cards come formatted to fat32.

I went thru the last page to figure out if you were responding to another post, since by itself this post makes no sense.

Well, it still makes no sense after reading thru the last page. So what's your question/problem/issue?

I just installed FRX07.1 a couple days ago. Forgive me if this has already been answered (I've searched this thread and have come up blank):

When I make phone calls, the sound by default is routed to the back speakerphone and is noisy. If once the call has begun, I tap the speaker button that appears in the lower right corner of the Phone app twice, sound is then properly routed to the front and it is clean without noise. Is there a way to route sound for phone calls to the front by default?

Unfortunately no. The new acoustic routing code fixes this problem, but introduces others (although the list of new problems is getting very, very low...)

Re: Simple Guide 12/11 Android on SD card! FLASH 11, 4 Steps, TP2 DL lnks (FRX07.1)

Two other issues:

GPS does not appear to be working. I open Google Maps and the status bar GPS icon flashes. However, I give it ample time, but it never locks to satellites. I just get a "waiting for location" message forever. Google Maps in WM usually locks within 30 seconds of the program launch.

The other issue is very poor battery life, even in standby without apps running. I have shut off push mail and my settings more or less match what I had in WM. Any FAQ or tweaks available to improve this? Battery life currently seems to be too poor (just a few hours) to be usable as my phone OS when I'm on-the-go. As is, it's only practical for days I'm at home or at office, where I can have the TP2 constantly connected to the charger. (Edit: I found this thread, http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/android-tp...ng-thread.html, and will try some of the tips to improve battery life)

I realize this is a work-in-progress. I'm very grateful to the devs. I hope the kinks are worked out...it could be amazing. What an immense improvement in usability over WM6x!

Doesn't work for me in the Navigation app either. I just get the "Waiting for Location" wheel spinning indefinitely.

Before anyone asks...

I have the "Use GPS satellites" option checked in Location & security settings.

Sc/ant864 12-23-2011 10:04 PM

I would think the radio firmware is tied to GPS so maybe flash a new radio?
Edit- I don't know if it will help but try updating to the latest rootfs, make sure you rename it to just rootfs.img after you unzip it and swap it with your old one. Being that its a fresh install and GPS works in WM.

Turn off auto sync for apps, extend refresh rate sync time for email and/or Gmail. Exit out of apps correctly so they aren't running in the background. Turn off GPS when not in use.

I turned off Auto Sync, thanks. I don't check email/gmail, so how do I turn this off?

I am very new to Android, how do I exit/close out apps and GPS?

Also, I have to press very hard on my PP2, it was very light tough on Windows side. Thanks in advance.

For email in the app press your windows hard key, then touch account settings, then set email check frequency.
For Gmail open app then windows hard key, then touch accounts, windows hard key press again, account settings, uncheck auto sync.
Back hard key while in apps will exit correctly, GPS is in settings> location&security.
FRX is slightly less sensitive than WM but you shouldn't need to press "hard", you can ruin your digitizer that way, try using one of the posted calibration files and see if that helps.
You're welcome :)

Thanks SC/Ant, that was very helpful for some1 like me.

Please ignore my dump questions, is this VERY slower than normal Android, because sometimes it takes a while to open each apps.. Should I wipe everything from my SD card and start over?

Where can I get more Themes/bg like some people on this forum has?

The last time I installed this Android on TP2 was in Sept, to update to newer version, do I have to start over? Thanks a bunch again.

Also noise on all calls, the person on the other end (mainly them) and I can't hear well, any solution for that?

I would try updating first, rootfs, kernal, etc. These can be found in incremental updates in the first post of this thread. If that doesn't help rename your data.img and see if that fixes it, per arrrghhh renaming data.img forces a new data.img to be made automatically.

There are Backgrounds in the app drawer or you can use any cam pic or pic from the web.

When I went from FRX06 to 07 I downloaded all files from the zip then deleted the new data.img and replaced it with my old data.img. I also replaced the rootfs.img with the latest per arrrghhh's suggestion after certain apps wouldn't work.

If you decide to reinstall everything back up all your stuff first with Titanium backup.

Thanks! When I connect this via USB, my laptop doesn't reconize it, any suggestion?

Also, any solution to static noise on all calls, I always have to turn on/off "Speaker" to get the noise out.

I updated rootfs and kernal, how do I make sure it's updated correctly?

The new acoustic test build fixes the static on calls. Otherwise the only "fix" is flipping the speakerphone on/off...

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/android-tp...3-7-build.html

USB should work, look for a program called "Droid Explorer".

Kernel's easy to verify if updated, look in Settings -> About Phone. rootfs is more esoteric, unfortunately there isn't a simple way to verify - but you shouldn't have multiple rootfses in your folder anyways, so make sure to always remove the old and rename the new to rootfs.img!

Assuming you remove the old, there's really no question if you replaced it or not ;).

Yeesh.

You can download apps wherever you want. Please read the FAQ, it mentions many ways to install apps (thru the AndroidApps folder, adb install, or thru a file explorer app like Astro).

Accounts & Sync...? Not sure what you mean. That's what I use, syncs to my gmail account beautifully. It'll work for Exchange accounts too.

Settings are always in the app itself. Usually you hit the "menu" (win key) button while in the app.
