I have a GSM SIM in, but it's not active - so if I did switch to it, I wouldn't be able to get service - but I've heard of several others that do what you're doing (use a CDMA RHOD as GSM) and don't have any problems now. They used to have issues where the GSM radio would just "shut down" when the panel was turned off and the phone was put to sleep - but AFAIK that is resolved. I haven't heard of any other issues, and certainly not the ones you describe.

For ROM, I'm on EnergyROM - Titanium. Just something small that can get me into Android quickly when I don't use Gen.Y ;).

Re: Simple Guide, Android on SD card! 4 Easy Steps (15 min): TP2 DL links (FRX07.1)

This XDAndroid download runs entirely off your external micro SD chip. NOTHING will affect your Windows side (including the radio).

The odds of getting hit by a plane are better, but on the off chance it happened, it takes me 5 min to load a newer radio anyway. I've allowed my signature to show, click on wiki & look under "R" for how to flash the lastest / newest radio.

If you have put \storage card\haret.exe in your \windows\startup directory, you shouldn't have, rather use geny dual boot cab on 1st post in auto mode. If any issues, simply pop your SD chip out & reboot.

Don't think anyone ever confirmed an issue as such. We have some people that have issues figuring out how to unzip a file even, but that's a user error, not a build problem, also it's very common for such a small device to both mechanically & electronically fail.... often due to water & impact damage - dropping.

I'm not suggesting anyone is BS'ing here... rather that some may be having issues with their phone in general... (feel for ya man, too bad)

Give this a shot, it's great!

WOW!

I can't believe how easy you made this, thanks for all your tips and all the hard work on the part of those who ported Android to the TP2. Loving the interface and infrastructure wifi for my HP Touchpad!

Ok I had to travel last week and when I would powerdown my phone, when getting on the plane, I saw that it didn't powerdown, but rebooted instead. I then let it boot windows, and did a power down there.

How can I get the powerdown in android to actually powerdown, and not reboot?

thanks,
dave

I just pull the battery because mine does the same thing.

I also got the TouchPad and TP2.

Are you using the build-in Wifi hotspot app?

Are you experiencing sometimes TouchPad won't detect until you switch Security to Off or to WPA2?

Also are you able to Turn Off the Hotspot on TP2 after using it?

First, thanks to all that made android on tp2 possible. Second, it took me a minute to realize arrrrgh was a username, and not people just arrrrgh'ing out of frustration. Lol

I got mine working after a few reboots on sprint, but would freeze often just trying to configure settings. What is the highest I can overclock at? I was using winmospeed on the winmo side at 768 without any problems before disabling it to boot frx071.

Also, when receiving txt msgs in frx071 will they not show up again if I reboot back to winmo?

Heh...

Most seem to max out on OC in Android around 748. Some have gone higher... I find 710 is very stable, so I don't go above that.

Text messages are only sent once. So if the phone receives them, they are not sent again... This is why I like Google Voice. I also don't use WinMo anymore, so it doesn't really matter to me.

I'm giving my son my TP2 with Android on it, but want to basically wipe the device. I have the power saving scripts up and configured, so I'd like to keep all that. What is the easiest way to wipe all the data, apps, contacts, etc, but keep the android install (system) in tact?

Can I do this?

thanks

Delete the data.img. /done.

However, you'll have to reapply any "power saving scripts". Not sure which ones you speak of.

However, if the radio appears off when the screen is on? That's an entirely different issue, and I'd check the normal things we already went over...

Is this still an issue? Only post that seemed relevant with a search.

Basically my issue is once I reboot my phone I have to place a call before I can receive an incoming call. I remember in the older versions you had to place a call in windows but I thought that was resolved.

Thanks in advance.

I don't think that's still an issue, but I have no way to confirm.

I also don't know what you're talking about with having to make a call before you can receive one...

Does the card show up in Windows when you're using USB Mass Storage mode in WinMo?

If so, try the HP Tool. Way better than the built-in Windows/WinMo utilities.

I don't think so, but the RIL developer doesn't have CDMA. He said the framework should support whatever is provided, but I've only seen .0... Meh. Small price to pay for 'real' CDMA mode IMHO.

Ok thanks man, it just peaked my interest since I never really noticed it.
Edit- Strange....while in status again a sec ago I noticed it was 1x-rtt and I had 1x in my notification bar. Looks like mobile network type is displaying in real-time....although I haven't seen rev.A as of yet if this is true.

Yes, it should display in real-time. I've never seen rev.A either, I'm sure it's a bug. I don't know how to fix it, and the developer assures me that it has the ability to display it, assuming the towers are broadcasting it. I don't have the talent to prove him wrong, other than say "it's not displaying right!!" :p.

I guess I should mention that I did bring up this observation to him, and we checked the logs - he said if the radio reports rev.0 there's not a lot he can do, and sure enough it was reporting the same in the logs. So I'm sure there's "something" wrong, I just don't know what that is.

Well I'm glad it wasn't something trivial, as I do not like to waste your time. The major problem with this is if we cannot access rev.A data we are chopping ourselves off at the knees since the difference equates to approximately 25% from rev.0 to rev.A. That said it's not like I'm going to give up android for that margin...OT- have you checked this on any of the NAND builds?

I haven't thought to look on NAND, but it's basically the same RIL code, not much has changed...

I think when we found it only showed rev.0 people started doing speedtests like mad, and some were getting speeds that were simply not possible on rev.0. So I'm pretty sure the speed is there if we're on rev.0, the RIL/radio/wtfever just doesn't report it correctly back to the system.

Sc/ant864 11-18-2011 07:40 PM

If I remember correctly rev.0 tops out around 400 kbps. I'm glad its just a reporting error and not stuck in rev.0, thank you for setting me straight. :)

Hey I still have this problem with my wifi on my tp2 on Android. I have added the incremental updates and deleted my data.mg file (backed up everything on my pc before doing that), then formated my sd card and tried to connect and says 'unable to scan for networks'. I cannot select the set up wireless connection without first selecting 'turn wifi on'.

You know what, like I said before, I did this: If you upgraded your kernel (see Incremental Updates) then make sure the modules-xxxx.tar.gz file matches the kernel (zImage). Sometimes the modules don't unpack correctly either, if you suspect this is the case (you know you've matched the zImage to the modules correctly) then try this trick (thanks Starfox). I want to try the 'trick' but don't understand where is the terminal window? All I ask is your help and you want to say something negative about it. Why can't you just be like other people: helpful.

Sc/ant864 11-21-2011 04:16 PM

Lascott7 we are not going to tolerate you getting irate at arrrghhh when he is clearly trying to help you. If you cannot follow his directions you most likely shouldn't be using frx07.1 and please DO NOT try to use any of the NAND builds. With all that being said if wifi worked in 7.0 for you revert back to that and call it a day also if you can't set your wifi access point with wifi off then common sense says turn it on then configure.

My whole point is, everyone is new to this at some point. I was too. I had to read, and read, and read - and when I started, there wasn't that much material to read!! So if you're going to experiment with this stuff, you need to be willing to get your hands dirty. PM'ing me constantly does not constitute getting your hands dirty.

May FSM bless you.

^^^ Exactly, we do not mind helping but you cannot expect us to hold your hand so to speak and answer questions that you can easily find the answers to. Do not get me wrong every once in awhile I ask a piddly question like " what does LK stand for?", but I don't blow up peoples pm box with 20 questions that could be answered with a simple search. An example is I read the XDAndroid frx03 page 5 times before I began downloading then read it another 3 times so I didn't need to ask any questions. Reading something is not enough you must comprehend it.
Edit- Just got the Flying Spaghetti Monster thing...
