Yessir. I've noticed that when i get a text and it makes the notification sound, the hissing stops for a few seconds. So every time there is sound, the hissing stops for a few seconds

Pretty sure this has to do with the sound being *ENABLED*, but not fully controlled by the OS yet... remember guys, this is just the first step, its not finished yet!!

Basically, the OS can pump sound to the hardware, but I think the amplification is stuck "ON" (normally, when a sound finishes, the speaker is shut off until the next sound event. When power is being sent to a speaker you will hear static hiss- think guitar amp with nothing plugged in).
This also means that the system volume is fixed at a certain position, I believe (can't change overall system volume yet).

Re: Yes it's true. Sound is here

Awesome work to all the big brains!!! I've been following this since day one, and the entire project has moved along so much. It's funny how some people had so much confidence in the hackers and some people thought it must be impossible. I'm glad I was in the confidence camp!

Keep up the great mods and hacks! Your work is appreciated by us all. I wonder how long we can keep these TP2's cool?

Kernel update: Add workaround not to have rhod's speaker always on. Still need userspace's fix: In linux-on-qualco... http://bit.ly/aNl8AR
