From what I have been reading, eventually the screen loses the "touch"ability. So I will try to get it replaced so soon as possible.

Got mine replaced at a sprint store. No questions asked. I think it is one of the major issues with HTCs touch screens.

Now to unlock the device and flash Mighty/NRG ROM!

usually happens mostly to people that carry the phone in a pocket. as long as there isnt any physical or liquid damage Sprint will cover the repair or replacement either with ESRP or under warranty

already in discussion here, feel free to add you're input. there are some suggestions that can help, mine goes in and out. i definitely have negative effects on scrollings, screen sensitivity, etc.

I've had this happen twice with my TP2s. I'm currently awaiting my FedEx shipment of my second TP2 replacement from VZW!

If you have insurance, they should replace it for free since it's a hardware issue and not caused by you.

Cody, do you have any more information as to what "faulty part" causes this? Perhaps then I could contact my phone insurance/htc and say "hello, my HTC has a faulty processor (for example) and it is causing the newton's rings. I would like a replacement. In my experience if it seems like you know what you're talking about the person is more apt to send you the free replacement - especially if you can point out it's the phone's fault what hardware is faulty.

I had this same issue on my touch pro 1 and also with my touch pro 2. It has nothing to do with what os you run. I thought it was because I keep the phone by my face and was getting radiation

ummm im pretty sure you dont have to tell them whats causing the problem every time iv had it 3 times now twice with TP and once with TP2 and all i gotta do is go to the store show them the touch screen isnt working and they give me a new one....

First post, but mainly doing it to add flame to the fire of the consumers anger towards HTC.

I've had a TP1 since March 2009 and had to replace it (the whole device) in January 2010 and again last week (early June 2010), due to Newton's rings producing eventually a dark spot in their point of origin that causes the screen to cease functioning.

The fact that it remains a problem for you TP2 owners is outrageous. This is the last time I consider HTC for a resistive screen phone; they need to switch to capacitive like everyone else.

Luckily for me, my original 1-year warranty covered the first device replacement, and my smooth-talking covered the second device (I was outside the three-month warranty on replacement devices; Verizon was being nice to me, I guess!).

Now if the screen on this third device fails completely, I have three months to get a free replacement (at an ~$30 restocking charge). The new problem is that I JUST STARTED TO SEE NEWTON'S RINGS FORMING WITHIN A WEEK.

At least I can just keep getting cheap TP1s!
