Agreed. The title of this thread is misleading. I think there would be lots more feedback/input if it was renamed.

Anyones just reboot when doing anything intensive? At least that is my guess at what is happening? Maybe it just happens in the marketplace... hmmm...

I'm loving Sense... wish I knew how to contribute. Someone should team me.. I know linux well! And programming some :(

The market place search has a small bug. This is being looked into.

Well some programming is better than none. Have you looked at the kernel source?

Go to http://htc-linux.org/ That's a good place to start.

Does any one have any screen shots of the sense ui? Also just to clarify, since on the xda thread of the subject says that the sound is working. Is that just for gsm?

Thanks in advance

Sound doesnt work on the Rhodium. Xda thread is mainly for the blackstone.

Also there have been some big kernel changes. BFS was implemented and it looks like it its making the build smoother. Feel free to test it out.

I'm including a dump from my phone now. It's a little behind the official klinux build since i havent had time to upgrade and one of the apps seems to be crashing for me during boot. Try it out since it also has the wifi module that will work on all Rhods. It uses the famous Mrpippy ril since that right now is the onlyone that works. http://hotfile.com/dl/38817594/f910a...od.tar.gz.html Since the wifi library i made works with the AOSP, it will soon be added to the xdandroid rootfs so there will only be one location for all of this. Thanks for the details and i hope this works out for you. Also if you have any logcats or dmesgs that might help troubleshoot.

Link is dead for me. :(

Another upload?

There are gonna be major updates soon. Depending on how far i get tonight i might release a sneak peek of what is to come.

Gps was fixed but AOSP will probably get that working first before we can test it on sense.

I got my hands on the Incredible rom and ill look to see if there are any differences with the current desire rom we use.

Go to http://htc-linux.org/ That's a good place to start.

I support Linux (RHEL/SLES) at an enterprise level for work, and I've reviewed and learned some ins and outs of the linux 2.6+ kernel, and basic intro to writing kernel modules, but I've not looked at anything specific to the phone much...

I'll have to do some more digging...

Thanks for the new build... I did a clean install of this and it is hanging on the KLinux HTC/HERO boot screen. The animations of the boot screen keep going however it never gets past this point. Left it running for about 45 minutes.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Same problem here, I haven't had any luck with the sense all in one builds. I was able to piece to together myself last week, but forgot how I got it to work.
What file is actually responsible for the "sense" interface? is it the system.sqsh file? or is it a part of the android build?

Re: Sense working?

delete the data.img and do it again, in 3-4 minutees the hero boot screen animation should painfully load the sense ui...when i say its painfully slow...prepare youself. shouldnt take more than 1 additional data.img create

as soon as it all loads run the task killer app with andoid man and free up that memory.

good luck...

its pretty to look at but not so usable at this point.

I replaced the entire android folder in order to get it to work. It is not enough to just replace the rootfs file you must replace everything and then it will work. The wifi works great but the gps is just so-so. I hit thanks on your post please do the same for me too.

Re: Sense working?

Purely informational...

Just loaded up the newest rootfs from http://xdandroid.southcape.org/rootfs/.

Removed my data.img and copied the new rootfs.img to my SD Card... booted up.

Seems to be working great. GPS for current location on the weather clock is fast and accurate.

Thanks.

It is upgrade time. This ROM is smoother and faster than the previous ROM.

Time to upgrade to the latest version of Sense with improved GPS Functionality.

Sense05-21-10.zip

This file unzips in to an 'andbootS' folder. So just unzip in to the root of your MicroSD card. If you want to run it with all the files in the root or in a different folder you must change to startup.txt file and remove or edit the rel_path line.

Keep in mind that this build takes much longer than the AOSP builds on the first boot and subsequent boots. Patience is your best friend on the first boot. If you see any force closes with to option to wait then select wait.

Please press the thank you button on the bottom right hand corner below. I am working on my reputation and I need you help to improve it.

Do you want to start a thread about this? I work with Klinux directly on the sense project and ive been meaning to start up a thread but i simply have no time. Any free time i do have is usually for development. So if you want to go ahead, by all means go ahead and i'll help answer questions as much as possible.

Dang :( At least we aren't alone.. still sucks though :(

Anyone have any ideas? Or, perhaps does a build without sense work? Though I really like sense..

Re: Sense working?

=1 to that, reboots mine as well. I still use it cause going to the normal 2.1 eclair vs the sense ui is just no cpmarison.

It does it on mine, and that little bug, caused me to remove the entire build.

Re: Sense working?

Im on a Sprint TP2 and I have the same problem where the phone will reboot each time I click on a search field whether it is on Dolphin HD, Skyfire, or Market Place. So, Im sure its not just an issue with one software but with an execution string when clicking in a search field. It has to be related to whatever happens when a text box becomes activated in a multitude of apps since it doesnt happen with other functions like facebook or twitter widgets.

Re: Sense working?

At this point i dont think much work will go on the sense build. Lot more work needs to go into the kernel before we proceed to make a usable build.
