Ok, people wanting contacts to show up on Android, this is the easiest way I have personally found to do it.

Open ActiveSync in WM. Create new connection.

server: m.google.com
then your username@gmail.com
and your password and the third field should be blank. After you sync, sync your gmail contacts on your android build and boom, all your contacts are there. even if you don't care about contacts in android, it will auto update your contacts on gmail and if you flash roms a lot and sometimes forget to back your info up, its always backing up.

just remember, it will only sync contacts and it will sync calendar only if you activate your google calendar account online. no email.

Agreed, I would say this should be in the FAQ if it isn't already. Definitely the easiest, most accurate way.

How do I sync my contacts from Windows Mobile into Android?
Very common question and I keep forgetting to put a link for you guys. Here is instructions on how to setup your Windows Mobile to sync with Google, and then Android will do it once you log into your phone via Android.

Only problem with this is that WM can only handle 1 ActiveSync connection. If you have an Exchange connection via AS, you will lose all entries (email, contacts, calendar) on your phone from exchange when you change the entry to gMail.

If you are using Exchange in WM then why aren't you doing it in Android?

I actually AM using TouchDown for Exchange. I used the Outlook export contacts/Gmail import method of porting contacts before I found TouchDown. My primary concern was someone ELSE not realizing they the AS method would result in loss of contacts on the device that were from exchange. Might be a good caveat on the FAQ entry.

I might be completely wrong heh, but I would think if you have been in the Windows Mobile world for anytime at all you know you can only do 1 Activesync connection and if you are using Exchange then most likely no matter what device, OS you plan on using you will want to stick to that. There are the users though that only use Outlook and want their contacts, and the Activesync through WM is one of the ways to do that.

I currently use TD as well, best thing out there currently. You will be happy to know when Android 2.1 comes around that you won't have to use TD anymore, you can utilize Androids built in Exchange Sync. Calendar as well. Not sure on tasks, I don't remember, so if you want that, you might still have to use TD. Plus there are some that prefer to keep their Exchange Contacts separate from their Personal, TD lets ya do that, but using Google's doesn't.
