Quite the contrary, they have done numerous benchmark tests, and SD Card is much faster than the internal flash.

Well it depends if he is using a Class 2 SD card or a Class 6 SD card.

Oh by the way, with the new roofs added to the GSM project..does that mean there is no need for 2 different ports and they can be merged into 1 project?

Re: Android/Linux for CDMA Touch Pro 2 Rhodium Updated 3-31-2010

I tried the above and it still does not work with the SIM card for Verizon TP2. I had to remove the SIM card for it to find the network.

cool, thanks for passing the word down. so far after i used the old rootfs i was able to boot up and into airplane mode, then rebooted, loaded with the new rootfs and it didn't reboot right away, i was able to add the metropcs apn and now i can see the arrows lighting up as if its sending and receiving but couldn't go on any website using the browser, or opera mini 5. right now its rebooting randomly though, wifi wont turn on and i've been trying different settings between chap and pap to see if that changes anything. we'll see

Always starts in Landscape?

Love the work going on here!
Been testing with it for a few weeks. Best thing to happen to my TP2 since I bought it!

Looking forward to seeing what else people can get to work. I think this will also be the stopgap that I'm looking for until the EVO comes out.

Anyhow, just wondering if everyone's starts up in landscape mode, regardless of keyboard position and orientation, like mine does? Has happened on every build.
Gsensor is not functioning on home screen anyhow, just in apps.

Anybody?

Keep up the good work!
Al

It isn't as per say a GSM Project heh, the rootfs, initrd and kernel are all meant for all types of phones, GSM and CDMA. And none of which is tailored specifically for the Rhodium. In fact the CDMA Raphael had been working off the autobuild rootfs for quite some time now. It wasn't until the Rhodium that it differentiated the RIL so much. Now it is merged so progress has been made.

We are pretty much caught up with the GSM side, but there will always be some differences. But for the most part as far as what isn't working is the same on both device types. And the hardware for those types should be the same.

As far as ports, again there isn't really a specific GSM or CDMA port, there is XDAndroid which runs on all types of phones. It is just the Android OS, and then there is the kernel, which works on multiple devices to define the drivers and such for those devices. Again, not specific. Then the rootfs which allows them to differentiate between devices, it is what tells the kernel what drivers you need. It accepts our startup.txt switches etc and knows what files or parts of files we need for our device.

Hopefully that helps explain some, I definitely am not the best at explaining!
This post has been thanked 1 times.

Have you dropped back down to the older XDAndroid release?

My screen is always flipping to Landscape when I don't need it to?
So far we don't have full Android Gsensor support. The GSensor works great, but it doesn't automatically detect when you turn the phone etc for Landscape to Portrait stuff. The easiest way to fix this from happening for now is disabling the automatic orientation. This will not affect it switching to Landscape when you slide your keyboard. That will still function just fine. Press the Menu button and select Settings. Then select Sound & display settings. Scroll down till you get to Orientation under Display settings. Uncheck that box, and it should no longer flip on you automatically. This does not fix the landscape issue on bootup, not quite sure why it does that, but it is known. Easiest way to fix is just hit the Menu button after it starts up, and that should flip it back to Portrait.

Yes, mine does always start in Landscape... its kind of irritating but its just a minor thing that certainly wont stop me from using it.
