XDAndroid stores all of it's apps and settings in a file called "data.img". It is a fixed size file of 256MB. Everything that you change in settings or install via the market will be installed in this file. The free space you see is the "free" space left in this file. It is possible to make this file bigger, but you need some *nix knowledge to do so.

Spot on. There's a couple of ways to change it - you can either expand the file yourself, or modify the rootfs (I believe...) to just create a bigger one.

Does anyone else have any problems with the Vibration setting.

I set my phone to vibrate and Ive tried calling and sending texts and the phone doesn't vibrate.

Forgot to answer this part of the question - by default it's set to only vibrate when in silent mode. If you poke around the sound options, you'll see you can set it to vibrate "Always".

Thanks and thanked

but at the risk of sounding like a N00b is there a reason why its so small?

Does it make android more stable?

It is set to always.

It doesn't ring and vibrate just rings and if I set it to only vibrate the phone acts as if its in silent mode.

You guys dont have the same problem?

EDIT: Note that the phone does vibrate when im lowering the volume to the vibrate setting. However, it doesn't vibrate. It remains silent.

Also The phone does vibrate when Im removing it from lock and such because I have "Haptic Feedback" selected. So my phone has the capability, just not during notifications and calls.

Honestly not sure. Probably to accommodate smaller cards (so a guy with the 512mb card can still use it....) Remember, for everyone's sake this project tries to be friendly to everyone. Is 256mb not enough...? I've never ran into an issue, but I've never installed more than maybe 15 apps...

Very odd. I even tested this myself, because I found at first it didn't vibrate when I called - but when I changed that setting to vibrate "Always" it works for me. I also get the haptics when I unlock the screen, and for notifications... so I'm not sure what could be up. May want to do the typical troubleshooting steps - make sure you're up to date, delete (move, rename) data.img, start with a clean build, format the card. Knock out each one of those one-by-one, and test in between. Hopefully it's something trivial.

As Long as it does work. Not sure if it was in the build...

Its no big deal I have android running the way I want I rather not touch it for something so simple.

Thanks for all your helped I appreciate it.

And @ domoarigato

Go to the market and download Gps status.

It worked for me. I too had problems with GPS and my location but it works now.

Does it make android more stable?

Probably because of the answer above.
Also, android will create this file for you itself on the first boot. That creation takes about minute or 2. If it would create a 512 MB file, that would add 2 more minutes to the first boot time.
Another reason would probably be that a bigger file would take up a lot of unneeded room on your card. Users with smaller SD-cards would probably don't like a 512 MB file with only 20MB of real data in it ;)
