Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [8/30] FIXED NOISE!

I have a newb question. If you partition your micro sd cart to ext 2 would it solve the issues people are having with media and ring tones. I know that on custom roms for other android devices a common practice people is partition their sd card for more app space.
will try once i get home tonight. I got a replacement tp2 sitting on my shelf running stock vzw rom. will give it a shot by booting to ubuntu remix on my acer atom to partition the micro sd and give feed back unless someone else has already done this and did not work or work.

please give feedback if anyone tries

I used to have the same problem with you whenever i'd use the mjgdroid utility (or whatever it's called) to boot into android. ever since i edited the startup.txt myself and use haret.exe directly to boot, my startup.txt has not been erased. just a thought, maybe it will work for you too

Make a copy of a working startup.txt and rename it to default.txt. Leave this in your andboot folder. The startup utility will probably still destroy your startup.txt, but if your default.txt is in there, you can just click "run" and it will start haret, and not eat up your default.txt.

Thanks fellas, you're both right... oddly I can no longer boot android using the project android shortcut in start menu either I get a 'unexpected error' calling for netcfv35.messages.en.wm.cab. I know what it is as I already have netcf35 cooked into my custom rom, it's just never given me an issue till now.

so basically I can only boot from the haret.exe and selecting default.txt >>> run

It's just very weird all these issues are happening at the same time...

If you change the startup text to be a read only file, your startup text will not happen anymore. i was having the same issue till i di that. no more startup text issues

That's a great tip, I'll give it a try now. So you're saying that it no longer shows the second screen asking for a 'default.txt' ?

Has anybody run into the issue where the battery says its dead even tho it has a full charge. I just pulled my phone off the charger after charging all night and its full. I booted into android, and it said battery was dead and rebooted to windows.

No never seen that happen, but of course you do know that power management in android is still very wonky right now

Its been a while since I have ran android on my phone and with all the new fixes coming out I wanted to give it another try.

I use to be able to run android on my phone with the old builds and installed the new one the exact same way as i use to...

However, I am getting No Service and cant seem to find a way to fix that in order to fully use the phone. I am using a Sprint TP2 and if anyone could help me that would be great.

Thanks!

So I am having a problem booting into the new version. i was using the last version w/ no sound w/o any problems and since i replaced the rootsf, modules, and zimage i always get stuckin the boot mode (where the lines of data are shown). it gets stuck in a different part everytime. So far I have only been able to boot successfully into android once.

Any reason that I could be having this problem?

Thanks guys!!

2. Is there a way to enable the SD through settings? I get an SD card error with several programs that rely on the media in the storage card because of it. Is there way to retain setting a media file as a ringtone if there is not a way to enable the SD card? I have been able to set my call ringer to a media file after using the media scanner in dev tools; the problem is after I switch to winmo or update android I have to refind media and then set the ringer again. Also after running media scanner on the home page with the widget it still says 'No SD card' even though when I click this button it takes me to the music files on the storage card that media scanner found.

4. Is there something I'm doing wrong when it comes to syncing facebook with contacts. Everytime I hit the facebook button under the sync settings is doesn't initiate anything.

5. Weather widget locking into location not working

I'll address the ones that I know about.

2. There is a known issue where some apps aren't happy with reading/writing the SD card, while most do so fine. I'm not sure I've seen a lot of discussion of it, so if you play around with it and manage to fix it, that'd be a helping a lot of people out.

4. Facebook sync doesn't work correctly on all Froyo devices I hear, not just our modded TP2s

5. Did you turn on location updates? Starting with Froyo, Google began to set location to off by default.

Did you set the Sprint settings in your startup.txt? You have to enable data.

If you don't want to modify it yourself, somebody posted their working startup in other thread.

You overclocked? Sounds unstable.
