Quoting myself.

Are you trying a different wallpaper? I have the 3d command in my startup and I have live wallpaper. Starfield wont work but lines is working fine. I even edited it to make the lines blue and thinner.

I've got to say, I didn't try the lines one. Starfield was the one I wanted and when it didn't work I gave up. Trying to set up the new NRGZ rom and play with android at the same time is starting to get to me.

Try lines. It could be that some wallpapers work and some dont. Maybe starfield is too graphic intensive which is why it has an issue with previewing it. Did work fine before the 3d command tho.

I haven't looked around much, but I downloaded the latest version to check out the memory piece.

The changelog mentions:
Try to take 17MB of SMI bank2 for userland apps. Lowers diam100's 2D pmem to 12MB

I forget to check what I had before.. Can someone who hasn't loaded the latest version htc-msm-android@20100310_213242

check out the amount of free memory.
To be consistent with what I'm comparing to,
Open -- Advanced Task Killer Free
Click on KILL selected apps (with all app checked including Advanced Task Killer Free)
Open is again (the only item there should be Advanced Task Killer Free)
What does it show as the amount of Available Memory (above the "KILL selected apps" button)

Mine shows 90M

Another good way to get the total memory is to open the terminal app -- pTerminal works for this, thankfully (it doesn't work for a lot of things) -- and type 'free' (without the quotes). It tells you total memory, used, shared, free, swap, etc.

Pretty sure nothing that's been committed lately is going to have an effect on those numbers, though.

Edit: Of course, it'll also say that almost all the memory is always in use. I think that's just a function of linux and Android memory management. Nothing to worry about. Task Killer is more useful for seeing how much is free in Android. Though there's some thought that actually killing tasks is not the best idea.

You dont... all you need to do is use the stylus.
There is a little notch behind the SIM card. Just stick the stylus in that little notch and push the card out. It should just slide out:)

thanks for responding...I must be a complete idiot.. I've been trying all day to get the sim card out, but it just wont slide out...so is the notch...left side/right side...top or bottom. there is an opening just below the metal band..I can lift the sim card with the stylus...but it look as though it might break.

Sorry, maybe this is a dumb question but how do I download apps? Everything is working (calls, sms, data) and I can look through the marketplace but when I go to download the apps are stuck at "starting download" and never actually download. Is there something I am missing? I didn't see anything in the FAQ about it, thanks.

EDIT: Nevermind, I started over, deleted everything, and now its working

There are some instructions that show how to remove the sim here:

Don't feel like an idiot; I didn't even know that I had a sim or what it was used for until I started messing with Android. :)
