Cool, thanks for trying it out. I'd just revert back to your prior, working rootfs until additional enhancements come down the pipe. The build is pretty useful if you have wifi access, I'm sure we'll get CDMA data before too long. Dev is really picking up. Exciting times ...

Re: [2/27/2010] Google Android for TP2 CDMA [In Dev]

Like several other people here, I'm still having issues getting a CDMA network connection. I'm not referring to Data, either, just plain old 1x CDMA service. I'm using my own custom ROM, built with Calkulin's kitchen. I've tried putting the phone into Airplane mode, I've tried making sure my data connection was off, I've tried making a call just before launching Haret... when I get into Android, I have no service. I do NOT have a SIM card installed (I got mine as a refurb replacement for TP1 so it didn't come with the Sprint International SIM like a NIB one would). I don't know if that's related or not, but I get the No SIM alert along with the No Service alert. I've tried to manually scan for networks but it cannot find any and when I tell it to choose automatically, it says Registered on Network and when I try to make a call, it says Not Registered on Network. For those NOT having this issue - do you have a SIM card installed (even if its just the Sprint International SIM card that comes with a NIB phone), and for those that do have this problem, same question.

Edit: Never mind *sheepish grin*... apparently making a call before launching Haret DOES work... only thing is, Android never reports being connected to service. The Notification area always says "No Service" and the signal bars will not show signal strength. The main difference is whether or not the signal strength icon has an "X" over it. Once I got the "X" to go away I was able to make a call...

As a start, I created a quick page here

Well... first of all, a wiki/documentation site is an awesome idea... but I think you should update existing wikis instead of creating more. I'd like to encourage you (and others) to visit the wiki @ www.androidonhtc.com and update the information there to include the updates in this thread. That wiki has a more complete set of devices and should be used as the central wiki for everything Android on HTC devices.

Having a ton of fragmented wiki's on PPCGeeks or other places is not wise in my opinion. If everything linked back to one central wiki and many users updated it, it really would become the best source of up-to-date, relevant information. It would avoid people having to go through 80+ pages of posts to find their answers.

Just my thoughts... because you asked for them.

Additionally, I'm trying to start to convince developers to use some extra hosting space I have for builds so that people don't have to go to sites like mega upload. Those can be left as mirrors if a basic, non ad filled direct download link site fails...

Again... just my opinion, but I think it makes logical sense and the masses will appreciate it.

As far as I've read, it appears that 95-civic is pulling the latest files from the kernel build and the rootfs.img build, but then adds his own additions to get the CDMA working. Without having that rootfs.img from 95-civic, I think we lose the CDMA support. I don't understand exactly what is behind all this, but I assume the whole RIL is contained within the rootfs.img.

Hopefully 95-civic will give whatever additional knowledge he is holding onto in his sources to some of the other developers, or start to push his changes in with the regular builds so that progress will continue for all users both CDMA and GSM alike.

Until then, I believe we keep having to use the rootfs.img provided specifically for the CDMA TP2.

Based on this understanding, I assume the latest kernel's may add functionality for some things without requiring a change of the rootfs.img (which apparently allows the CDMA) and can be downloaded and then copied over top of the old one.

Please do correct me if I'm wrong, because I probably am...

I agree.. I found that site (I'm guessing it's yours ) after my first post with the wiki entry. I updated the wiki entry with the direct link to the Android / Touch Pro2 page.

I also think it would be helpful to include the link directly to the TP2 page in the first post of this thread.
