I understand why you would want class 6, but just know that class 6 isn't required for android.

I have a class 2 sandisk (4 gb) and it loads android just fine. First boot takes only ~2 or 3 minutes, with subsequent boots after that only taking about 70 seconds

Of course, there are other reasons why one would want class 6. But I'm just throwing this out there for others that may think that class 6 is the only way to go if you want to run android from the SD

I was in your shoes before. Now im trying to build my own system.sqsh file but thats a nightmare of its own. I keep getting permissions issues even tho all the files are owned by root.

I don't know if it's a FULL image but a page or two back I posted a link that HTC has the source code for the Eris and other phones available online, something around a 70MB download.

SanDisk 8GB microSD Ultra (SanDisk's code for Class 6). You may have to search a bit for this (Amazon has them) as its not the standard SanDisk microSD but I have had one since the begining and it works great.

There are other threads on microSD cards and there seem to be mixed results with many of them. The SanDisks seem to work the best.

I had this same issue booting off a clean 16GB sd. I switched to a clean 2GB and it booted right up. I don't know if the size had anything to do with it, but it fixed my problem.

A lot of people here say that you need to extract all the files to the root of the SD card in order for Android to boot up and work properly

But if you like keeping your SD card clean, you can try this instead:

1) Delete all the Android files from your SD card
2) Create a folder on the root of the SD card called 'Android' (no quotes, exact spelling and punctuation - i.e. capitalized 'A')
3) Dump all the Android files back in that new folder you just made
4) Boot 'er up

Note: This method will still create 'cache' and 'data' folders on the SD card, but everything else will be kept nice and tidy in that 'Android' folder you made
Thanks, I like this option better. This does make it so the Gen.Y DualBOOT does not work unless you set the AndroidBootFolder=1 in the registry.

See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623792 and look in the Registry area of the first post.

Yea, I should have mentioned that originally. Thanks for reminding me! You get your first 'Thanks' for pointing it out

I've also updated my original post to reflect this registry edit
