There really isn't any reason not to give it a try.

It doesn't actually install to the phone or flash the ROM in any way.

It all runs from the SD card.

Exactly. It's certainly worth a look as the success of the project may depend on the bounty. I opted to take a look before I posted to the bounty thread to see if it seemed worthwhile or not.

have you tried the 1.6 build WisdomWolf??? I hear its a little more stable and a few things work on that one that doesn't work on 2.0.1 build. Any feedbak if you've tried both would definitely be helpful??? thanks in advance

I only tried the most recent one, which I believe is 2.0.1. The touchscreen works correctly and I was able to navigate the system, but no marketplace access due to no data and it is a bit slow. It does look very promising though so I chimed in on the bounty. I have high hopes that next year we will really have the best phone with easy access to Android or WM.

I couldnt get service with 2.0.1 build ;\ but it worked nonetheless

Wirelessly posted (Opera/9.80 (Windows Mobile; WCE; Opera Mobi/WMD-50286; U; en) Presto/2.4.13 Version/10.00)

i have been testing build 2.0.1 with the fixed touch screen this is what i have found. Verizon rhod500 spl and sim unlocked (energyrom 28008 for wm)
works-
volume down button - also allows you to back out of programs opened.
display on/off button - doesnt turn off display only digitizer, and brings up lock screen
long press of display on/off button - brings up menu for airplane mode and locking and rebooting
EDIT: mute button on back - while in a call i was sure i pressed it and a lock symbol came up on the screen - need to test again to confirm ----> Doesnt work.
--------------------------
unsure if i was roaming as a GSM subscriber or if i actually connected as CDMA but i was able to make and receive calls while in android.
NO SOUND from either end but the call did connect several times.
I was able to ignore the call and send them to voice mail.
service indicator said my network was "(green service) VODAFONE NL"
my phone language changed itself to the netherlands
all i had to do was disable flight mode and then android soft reset itself and i had service.

when u say u had service, u mean u were able to make the calls and recieve them but no internet right?? i was also able to make a call and receive one but just no sound. This is so promising i think we need some sound drivers or something and the internet fix is probably around the corner since they got it working on the vogue

This is the hope I had when I bought the TP2 instead of waiting for the Hero. Basically, this would be the ultimate phone (until we get a 1gz+ phone with slide out keyboard). The possibility of best of both worlds, WM and Android. This is exciting!

Yes, by saying I had service did mean that I was able to make and receive calls just fine. We just were not able to talk to each other due to the speaker and mic not working, but the connection stayed open until I hung up one of the phones.
I was able to end a call using the screen off button on the top of the vzw tp2.
There is no data connection at all.
So no internet or SMS.
I went in to the messenger application and sent some messages while in flight mode and there was a little pop-up saying they would be sent when connection was restored.
I went in there again when I had service and sent some more messages, while I never got a pop-up saying they couldn't be sent they were never received on the other device. I was not able to receive any messages either.

just be patient and try tapping the x and it should take you to the setup screen. i was having this same problem. Or even trying restarting the device and load up haret again. If you see the X that means its working though. Hope this helps :)

Just want to add my moral support to this project. Fully functioning Android on the TP2 with a working CDMA radio would be a dream come true! Thanks developers for giving it a shot!

Well after rebooting into android again I was able to see what networks were available.
It is only showing me GSM networks of T-Mobile and AT&T.
So the only thing I can think of is that the first time it was letting me roam off of one of those networks the first time.
Now I am unable to connect to the networks.

So it would seem that its still just a GSM enabled android 2.0.1.

So it just runs as a program right now? Cool. I'll try it out later tonight!

Edit: Can't get past the boot screen. :-( Oh well! Time to try booting it again!

i don't believe this is the case because i don't think sprint would roam off of at&t or t-mobile.( i may be wrong) I think it would roam off of verizon. I think the rom is reading the sim card slot, i had these same options as well and i also have an unlocked sim card. when placing calls they were from my sprint number and not my t-mobile number. If it was roaming gsm or in my case actually using gsm my t-mobile number would of shown up when calling. I do think this rom was originally gsm like many custom roms we flash but it has to have some tweaked settings. I wonder who are making these ports. Just my 2 cents

When I run haret.exe from the root of my storage card, it goes to the screen that looks like dos(but it's linux) and goes r6(blah) 00000000 : r5(blah) 000000 or something like that, over and over(with other lines in between it) any quick analysis on what I am doing wrong?

the first boot is always the longest, mine took almost 5 minutes to boot all the way the first time

same for you, just keep waiting, it will eventually get there
however, if it takes more than 10-15minutes and you're still at that same screen then something is wrong.
just reformat your microsd card to FAT32 and extract the contents of the zip file directly onto the microsd card

I think I'll take this opportunity to de-lurk to say: WOW, awesome job! I just started this up on a Verizon TP2 running the 12/21 mighty rom. Booted just fine and looks great! I got the audio errors on boot, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time.

Edit: Just started Bejeweled and it plays just fine. I have no idea how to properly exit Android apps. Thanks again, this is all very cool. :)

This is pretty COOL!!!

I love the ability to boot droid on my TP2, but after it boots and I go through the setup all i get is the time and unlock screen. I can't seem to get it off that screen. Any ideas? After the first install and boot i did see a home screen with folders but i think it timed out to a lock screen.

Ya that makes sense to me now. I was able to get connected again during another boot. But this time instead of it saying (green service) vodaphone nl it just says (no service) vodaphone nl. but I am connected to a network of some kind. No data or SMS even though it reports the SMS as being sent.

What I have been doing to exit or go back a page is just use the volume down button... It was the only way I could do anything at all in the OS.

Yes it does time out to a lock screen with the clock.
On VZW just press the display on/off button and it should reactivate the touch screen input, you can then slide to unlock.

If that screen is not responding to your touches, just press the power button(on top) once and then you will be able to slide the lock(on left side) towards right. As somebody mentioned above, the power button just turns of the touch'ability.

Its possible that you have a really really slow SD card and that is what is causing it to not boot fully. Or a really small one that barely fits the files from the zip file on it, leaving no room for any temp files.

I don't think the ROM you have should make any difference.

I am running the EnergyROM Standard Phoenix from Dec 2nd (6.5.3 28008 ) with TouchFlo but I'm not using the touchflo

I would assume that by "wiping" all they did was delete all the files on the SD card.
Formatting would have done the same effect in the end.

Make sure that your SD card is formatted to FAT32 file system not NTFS or FAT or FAT16 or HFS .... etc

he means he just deleted everything off of the card.

try to do the same and see if that works. and also tell us what error message (if any) comes up or which line it gets stuck at.

you could also try a different card if you have extras available

Im using a Kingston 2gb micro sd card. I dont know what its write or read speeds are. I tried to flash back to a Sprint stock rom and that didnt help either so it might be the card. It was formatteed to Fat32 and had nothing on it besides the unzipped files.

Re: Android, it's alive!.. (2.0.1) - Updated 12/21

Wow I am unbelievably impressed. I fully expected this to be a buggy mess and really didn't think I would get it to boot at all. What actually happened was that it booted right into Android on my first attempt and I was greeted with what seemed to me to be a fairly functional version of the OS. Sure there is a lot to do but just seeing it running on my TP2 assures me that we will be running a very useful and smooth version of Android soon. There is a lot more working already than I ever expected. For example I was able to do all of the following (none of which I expected):

1. Switch between home screens
2. Pull down the notification window shade
3. Open the applications drawer
4. Install a widget
5. Add an app icon to the desktop AND later remove it
6. Run several of the apps included in the build. In fact they all seemed to run with the only limit being those that required a data connection not being able to proceed (they still ran fine though)
7. Play a game and the animations are surprisingly smooth

Congratulations to the devs of this one, what an amazing accomplishment. And BTW, Android looks stellar on the TP2 screen, what a match made in heaven! This is going to be something really special once a stable and 100% (or close to it) functional ROM becomes available. My WM ROM flashing days are over! I am running Mighty ROM 12/6 which is great, but it will be the last ROM I flash on to my phone until WM is replaced permanently by Android. I'll never flash another WM ROM again!
