Hrm... well I guess I'm making a wild assumption based on your feedback. If it says there's no space left on the device, then I would think it's empty.
Also keep in mind Android knows nothing of the phone's internal storage space - Android
only is aware of the SD card, as everything Android-related should be on your SD - it is, right?
The FAQ just tells you how much space you need on the card, and the minimum card size. 4gb is fine, assuming you have at least 400mb free on the card - once you copy Android onto the card, it creates a data.img file which takes an additional 256mb. So in total, 400mb should be enough space.
You said it keeps repeating the same lines over&over... can you post verbatim which lines it's displaying? I haven't heard of this issue before, outside of simply not having enough space on the card when it goes to create the data.img (again, needs at least 256mb for that.)
