Re: NAND Boot Testing - Auto-brightness Testing: 10-28. Automatic Keyboard Detection!

Sorry for being a noob but I gotta ask this question: is there any obvious advantage from booting from NAND directly besides not having to boot to WinMo first and then running haret.exe? I guess the obvious one would be faster boot time since the kernel (zImage) and ramdisk (initrd) are directly on the fast NAND (as compared to the microSD). Is there any plan on putting the rest of the filesystem (ext2) and data directly on NAND so that Android would run faster (or won't it)? What are the remaining efforts that need to be done to allow Android on TP2 to run as smooth as those phone devices (like HTC Hero, Samsung Moment) with native Android OS? Thanks!

By the way, you guys are doing a great job
I may try download the development tools and source code and play around with it.

sounds like you answered you own question about the advantage. Plans ? no there are no plans since i do this at nights after a long days work. I already took time off work to help with some development. So no more vacation days left for me ..

Sorry bro.. ive been too busy to do anything lately. All my efforts are now on the framebuffer to speed up the ui. My first attempt failed but im crossing my fingers on this next big jump.

Sense? hero devs didnt even bother to reply and i dont have time to swap aronud libs to see what works and what doesnt. Ive even tried contacting my old buddy klinux to help but he is kinda out of the game now.

LED-Effects has....no effect... LOL

I still keep getting the Green/Red LED randomly and they won't go away, that should be draining the battery I assume? I guess I need to change my XDAndroid build to one that doesn't have any LED at all...

It could be the android build ...or not? So many stuff in the mix it's hard to tell...

I'm using XDAndroid 2.2 Froyo 11.01.2010 (this one came for most MSM like Diam,TP,TP2)

BTW I have it on Boost Mobile, installed droid VNC Server and DynDNS and I can connect to the phone from anywhere via VNC..

Well while you're at it, how about rewriting it with some 2.6.35 in there?

thats the plan.

Anyways turns out the framebuffer (qualcomm code) i was working on isn't really ready for production. Google isnt really using it and considers it staging and since it's taking so much time its not really worth it to waste efforts trying to get it up. So we will revert back to .35 google framebuffer.

hopefully i commit this weekend so stayed tuned for that..
