gSyncit
I am a long-time WM user and due to my line of work I need to be able to sync my corporate outlook w/ my phone. I have explored numerous solutions (i.e. I can't install HTC sync or Mising Sync for Android on my corp PC as I don't have admin rights & it's not authorized software, I can't utilize the MS exchange through my work b/c Android phones are not authorized, and last but not least I don't want to enter all my contacts & calendar events in to 2 seperate PIMs-Gmail & Outlook).
I found gSyncit (http://www.daveswebsite.com/software/gsync/index.shtml) and it's low-profile enough that I can install it on my corp machine, but it costs $15 & the trial version is so limited I can't tell whether it's going to work for my needs. Does/has anyone use(d) gSyncit? If so, how does it work? Your thoughts, suggestions & opinions are very much appreciated. Thank you!! |

Re: gSyncit
I / we allow android, WM and BB phones so it is not a problem. Most IT departments aren't so strict that you can't put your phone on the network. Kinda defeats the whole purpose of having a network if you can't use it. Maybe try taking it up with IT tell them they can even configure the phone themselves maybe that will help.

Re: gSyncit
I dont see why your IT department has an issue with android on exchange...with my new Evo i have exactly the same features as i did in WM (sans task sync)...i'm assuming is a security issue?
maybe you can use google calendar sync on your desktop, so it can push it to your gmail calendar and then you get OTA calendar thru gmail... BTW, it is free from google. as for your contacts, not sure what will do it for you. |

Re: gSyncit
For those looking for a nice option to sync exchange I have found Nitrodesk TouchDown to be quite exceptional...
Very nice app... I have never been able to receive HTML from my exchange account but this app gives it to me... Love it!!! This has become a must have app for me!!! |

Re: gSyncit
I have been using gSyncit for 4 days now and I have come across a few bugs (duplicate & missing contact entries). Not frequently, but enough to make it an unreliable option. It seems to work great for calendar syncing.

I work for a major US corporation and in order for them to make their IT dept as productive as possible, everything is exactly the same. Every workstation, every server, every mobile device the same as the next. That way when there is a problem, the downtime is minimal and it makes working on them a breeze. Therefore they don't allow any non-corporate hardware or software. |
