Also if you have an evo with the stock 2.2 "THERE IS NO ROOT AVAILABLE YET" At least with the unrevoked method which is the only method I will use since all I need is to run root programs, not change the rom. Also if you go to the unrevoked website you can see this on the site "At this time, unrevoked3 does NOT work on stock Froyo (Android 2.2) phones." I currently have stock froyo therefore cannot root.
Hope that cleared a couple things out.

Before I get started, a few nOOb questions. After I this method, will I have tethering enabled or do I have to dowload something else? What if I want to load a custom ROM? What are the steps for that after doing this? Thanks for anyone who helps. Sorry for the nOOb questions.
One more!
Can I go back to stock in case I need to exchange the phone? Or will it matter at all? Thanks!

I am telling you its not that hard, it really isn't. If you want to wait then of course that is totally up to you. I am by no means a pro at anything android, as a matter of fact I am easily just as much of a n00b when it comes to android and rooting. With winmo I got down and dirty with the modding and hacking because you just had too if you wanted your phone to atleast run half ass decent but with this particular exploit to get root access the only prerequisite would be knowing how to read and follow exact directions(there's even a detailed 2part video), if you can do that then it will be a walk in the park. Now I will also recommend that even though you may want the easiest possible way to root, a whole lot of research goes along way. I say that because I have noticed that the ones that usually take the easy way out are the ones that end up having more questions than before. This stuff really isn't that hard and if you make a mistake then there is usually a very simple fix for it but again if all you are looking for is for the simpless way then maybe you shouldn't be rooting at all, thats just my opinion and I am not trying to insult you in anyway what so ever.
