Have you had this set up working previously, for both stereo channels? I'm asking because I have a similar car set up:

And when I simply used the HTCminiUSB to 2.5mm with my L-shaped 2.5mm to 3.5mm stereo adaptor, only one channel would work. Just went out to my car and verified, indeed it is the left that fails. The reason for this is that the 2.5mm socket (female) has a 4th connection, for microphone. But the 2.5mm plug (male) has only the 3 connections for stereo. My fix was to pull the plug out about 1/8th inch or so. To keep it in the right spot while driving, I use a little spacer.

Since left also fails with your earphones, it seems there could be some other culprit. And in any case, it's a good idea to make sure your USB socket is clean and free from pocket fuzz. A fellow PPC Geeker had success using compressed air. That's too extreme for my Vogue! I use a small brush that came with my electric razor. It has long soft bristles. Look at the contacts (6 on angled side, 5 on other) using a magnifying lens and bright lighting, to check for wear and/or damage.

Hope something here helps, MrG
