Re: Idea: App To Turn Off Phone Radio
Greetings. There is an app already out thatll put your phone into flight mode at any time you would like. Its called CTscheduler, and can also run a bunch more tasks of your choosing. For example' you could have it go into flight mode (radio off) at 10:00pm, then have it run a password protected locking app, right after. Its not free, $10 to $13 but very worth it if you like scheduling certain tasks.

Re: Idea: App To Turn Off Phone Radio
Only problem I see with this is, if she really wants to talk on the phone after 10 bad enough, she'll find a way.
Not trying to be a party-pooper or a parenting genius, but I am 17 and know the feeling of wanting to stay up late talking on the phone. Personally, the best thing i can recommend is to just try instilling the right values of going to bed at the right time and NOT staying up late talking on the phone. Most teens (myself included) don't really like this idea all too much, but after a few mornings of draggin' a** to school, we get the picture and actually WANT to go to bed earlier instead of staying up late talking. Just my two cents. Best of luck on the Phone Radio time-locking ![]()

Re: Idea: App To Turn Off Phone Radio
cook a rom that has the ctscheduler and your settings in it by default. That way the only way it can be circumvented is by flashing a new ROM, hard reset will just keep the same settings
![]() oh yeah, block xda and ppcgeeks for her MAC in your router! lol j/k on that... if ctscheduler is not your thing a mortscript could probably also suffice... |

Re: Idea: App To Turn Off Phone Radio
No offense, but unless your daughter rides the short bus she will figure out within a day how to circumvent any program you choose. Much better idea to just tell her that she has to maintain a certain GPA to have the benefit of a cell phone, and the instant she doesn't meet it take it away. I mean, your daughter will HAVE to figure out that by simply changing the time on her cell phone that it will never lock, unless of course she is very very very very very very slow, which I doubt she is.

Re: Idea: App To Turn Off Phone Radio
Give the free version of G-Profile a try for creating profiles for your phone. The newest version costs money, but the old version still works great for me. As dschoenike suggested with CTscheduler, you would have to use G-Profile to launch a separate password-protection program at a specific time. It doesn't have that functionality built in.

Re: Idea: App To Turn Off Phone Radio
just my 2 cents worth, but I actually think it's a bad idea to lock her out of the phone at a certain time, and here's my reasons:
she is out after 10pm with family (or friends) and something happens, emergency, etc, yet you have the phone auto-lock her out at 10, now she has no way to dial 911, or she is at home, and a fire breaks out in the house, she can't get to a land line and you have locked her out of he phone, and about a million other reasons.. if she was my child, I would feel pretty bad if she had a cell on her but unable to use it for an emergency and something happened (if she didn't have a cell and something happened, I would feel bad that I never got her a cell lol) I think the idea of good grades, etc allows unlimited usage of the phone, it's called the honor system, you trust her to not use the phone after 10pm, long as her grades are good, she keeps possession of the phone 24/7, you can quickly check the only usage each day of the account (or weekly) and see if any calls were made after 10pm, and if so, take the phone at 10pm and return it in the morning, and put a land line in her room for the emergency use again, just my 2 cents worth |
