app development with visual studio question

Can you use Visual Studio Express and the downloaded WM 6 SDK to develop WM apps? I don't want to invest $300 for Visual Studio Standard when I just want to create a few apps for myself to fill in the gaps for software I can't find. What's missing in VS Express that prevents creating mobile apps?

Re: app development with visual studio question

i dont believe express version to be capable(wasn't for smartphone) but if you are a student(or know a student willingto do so) go to dreamspark, microsoft gives away product keys for visual studio 2008(and other software too) my wife is a psych major,
but still when she verified, they sent her a key for visual studio 2008, then you should be
have everything you need (she also downloaded server 2008, (blows vista out of the water as far as speed and capability))

Vista sucks anyways.

To O.P. look into PPL.
It's Pocket Programming Language.
It's pretty nifty.
