Android Market after EB13 upgrade - read before upgrading

I created a separate thread on this - to warn other people about this issue - before they pull the trigger on the EB13 upgrade.

I downloaded and installed the upgrade from the Samsung website.

After that, the Android Market app only listed TWO of my installed apps.

The Android Market website lists more of my previously installed apps - but not all of them. For most of the apps listed, I was able to initiate a re-installation from the website.

However, for several of my paid apps - while the app is listed on the Android Market website for my account, my Epic device is now being shown as incompatible with that software.

When I search for those apps using the Market app on my phone - those apps don't show up.

And there are other apps - that I had previously installed - which are not listed at all under my account on the Market website - and don't show up when searching the Market on my phone.

I've contacted Samsung technical support - and they say it's not their problem.

Similar message (so far) from Android Market - it's not their problem.

The responsibility for fixing this problem appears to fall back on each individual app developer - to upgrade the profile for their apps to include Epic/Froyo as a supported device.

Before upgrading, people need to be aware that they may lose access to at least some of their applications after the upgrade - at least until app developers have updated the profiles for their apps.

If you don't mind which apps did you actually lose?

Re: Android Market after EB13 upgrade - read before upgrading

The two I paid for and know I can't access are Golfshot and the full version of RoadSync (the demo is available though).

However, I know I had other free apps installed - that aren't listed - but I didn't expect this problem, so I didn't make a list of what was on the device before I did the upgrade - I had assumed the Android Market would take care of this.

Did you try logging into:

https://market.android.com/

and see if it has a list of the apps you had?

Re: Android Market after EB13 upgrade - read before upgrading

Tried that. Some of the apps are listed on the website. I was able to install all of the free apps listed on the website - but the two I purchased are marked as "purchased" but not compatible with my device. Plus there are quite a few other free apps that I had previously installed - that aren't listed either on the website or in the market app on my phone - for my apps.

Is anyone else seeing this problem?

I'm wondering if this might have been caused by using Samsung's EB13 upgrade tool - rather than waiting for the upgrade to be pushed by Spring.

Anyone else have any comments on this???

Well all my apps are there..I searched for Roadsync and I don't see it on the Market aside from the Demo..I used the update.zip method...

Did you use DK28? if you did, were they there?

Re: Android Market after EB13 upgrade - read before upgrading

I upgraded from the original Epic 4G stock rom (2.1) to EB13 from the Samsung site.

When I search the Market on my phone for GolfShot or the full version of RoadSync - they don't show up in the search results - as if the Market is filltering out those products - because it believes my phone isn't compatible.

I just tried using AppBrain - and was able to get both products to show up in my AppBrain "My App" list - but when I try to use AppBrain to install the products from my phone, I get "requested item not found" error messages on my phone.

I guess try contacting the publisher..

your other alternative is to flash back to DI18..then use the update.zip method to upgrade..it would then keep your apps intact..
