Need some advise from the Omnia i910 gurus

So I spent the last three nights playing around with my Omnia trying to get it "just right". Below is a short list of what I have been working on...

I did all of the reg edits I thought were beneficial and I wanted to perform. I used CERegEditor for all of my editing. Let me say THIS PROGRAM IS UNBELIEVABLE. This was my first attempt at doing reg editing and this program made it very easy to do. Well, the program AND all of the great people here that gave me some good advice.

This includes the reg edit for unlocking Samsung Today 2. After playing around with it for the last 24 hours I think I have gotten it exactly where I want it. I was starting to think I might need to look at loading SPB or S2U2 after trying out the Widgets (which is completly useless) and Samsung Today 1 (hated the fact that editing content is VERY limited).

I updated .net to 3.5, loaded Adobe LE 2.5, loaded the mouse cursor click button, installed ClearTemp, and installed PIMBackup.

After all of this there are still a few very minor items that I wanted to see if I could get some help on.

1) I was wondering how many people out there did the below SIP edit to allow a different default keyboard for portrait and landscape...

http://www.modaco.com/content/i9x0-o...new-version-2/

How has this worked for you so far and are there any known issues with it for the Omnia i910?

2) Is there any way to force keyboards to NOT use XT9 as a default? I do not like the XT9 spelling option at all and it was one of my most hated things about my XV6900. I though I read somewhere a way to delete XT9 altogether from the device. If this is the only way around it, I would not hesitate in getting it completly off of the device. Can someone provide a link to any info on this? I searched around here and the other sites and could not find what I was looking for.

3) Are there any other good weather apps out there that support the Omnia besides Weather Panel? I couldn't find a whole lot of additional info on this subject.

Please chime in if you have any thoughts, solutions or suggestions.

Re: Need some advise from the Omnia i910 gurus

I have used omniaSIP. Works well, although it crashed the other day, and I had to soft reset to use the soft kb again. Pretty stable otherwise though.

You can try hacking the registry at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Layouts\e0010409 and set Layout Text to "COMP IME" minus quotes. If that doesn't work, then completely disable it. To do this, open Settings, input and go to samsung keyboard prefs. Disable all XT9 settings.

Then, use this reghack.

Back up the original key located at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Layouts\e0010409

Install this reg file.

I had to use the reg hack for XT9 to disable. Thanks as this will save me a ton of frustration like I used to have with the XV6900.

I'm going to load the OmniaSIP and give it a try. It seems to be a pretty cool addition to the phone.

Now I just need to find a cool weather app and I'll be all set (for now at least). Thanks for the help.

I like weatherbug direct. It provides you with an awesome today screen weather plug in for free.

I like SBSH PocketWeather. Not free but loads of info and a very nice Today Screen plug-in with radar images. You can customize your weather sources for each location you choose. They have a nice how-to on their forums.

I just noticed today that after I did this reg hack it seems that when I try to use the Samsung Keypad, the text button (middle button with T) is not operable. Did this happen to you? This will suck if I can't use this as I like to use it in portrait mode and Samsung Keyboard in landscape. Let me know.
