i need help customizing my treo

okay i have been searching for a few hours and have seen several guides on how to install real vga and the htc home plugin on my treo. but which guide is the best ? is it possible anybody could post what cabs i need and basic instructions for a dummy like me ? i just don't want to jack up my phone at all. the reason im asking is i see soo many different downloads and outdated links i don't know where to start.

also if i decided to go with spb mobile shell will i also need real vga for it to work ?

ive also read that real vga can cause certain apps not to work on your phone ? is this true ?

RealVGA changes your screen resoultion, from 128DPI to 96DPI.
It will not make programs non-working, it will screen up some programs on how they are displayed on the screen.
Check out the threads over at TreoCentral.com User ebag has some good informaton about getting RealVGA installed.

SPB Mobile shell will work with or without RealVGA.

I personally tried RealVGA , but it made everything so un-readable, that I took it off.

I would try SPB Mobile Shell.

SPB Mobile Shell will work with RealVGA, but not very well. The Start button doesn't bring up the SPB menu at all. If I had to choose, go with SPB Mobile Shell.

i will try spb mobile shell, i hear the htc home + real vga screw up the treo still. do you guys know if there is any spb themes that will work yet ?

spb mobile shell comes with like 5-10 color themes. but i use pictures for my today screen. i also would say +1 for spb, its not free, but after the trial expires u probably would want to buy it, anyway

yeah im going to go with spb when my phone arrives, do you know if there are any other 3rd party themes available though ? i did a search and i cannot find any.

i bought a theme package from lyma design. it had like 500 themes in the package, but i only like maybe 20-30 of them

Any of the guides worth their salt should include links to the place of origin for RealVGA, HTC Home plug in, ect. Now, having said that, I hope I included those links in all my posts.

You're not going to ruin your phone to the point of making it unusable by installing RealVGA or anything else to be honest. People have complained of incompatibility with certain apps but that should be pretty well documented. I never had a problem when I was running RealVGA. I'd highly recommend giving it a shot.

i found a site with a ton of great 320 x 320 spb mobile shell themes that can run without real vga.

RealVGA isn;t needed for SPB Mobile Shell...

In fact, I wouldn't run RealVGA on the 800, as it makes everything very hard to read.
