so in other words, if i were o take my Xv6800 and USB cable connec it to my laptop i can use my phone as a "wireless modem" for internet for my laptop?

On the 6800, download and install the internet connection sharing cab. I imagine it works - works on the 6900 and 6975

my phone is currently sh*t, i need a new one, i could just settle and get another replacement, but it be the 3rd replacement id get in 3 months, or just say F it and get the droid, but then i saw the list of updates for the droid for dec 11th, and im wondering if i should just wait till then...

What list of update? And you mean hardware-wise or software-wise?

Does it include a quick way to close apps and enabling multi-touch functions found on the Milestone? Where is this list?

Just an FYI. Supposedly a bug / fix has been submitted to Google, but there is no patch as of yet.

It does work great on open WiFi and secure connections, but honestly browsing is already nice and fast for me just on the Verizon network.

That's strange, it connects fine to my home network which is hidden. There's no option to tell the phone that your network is hidden, but if you add it as a profile then it will just connect when in range like normal.
