Using the Vogue and GPS as a receiver

Now that the GPS is working and enabled on our Vogues (YAY!), is there a way to turn the phone into a GPS receiver so I can connect it to a laptop and use Microsoft Streets and Trips? (or similar software)
I don't see a setting in the phone that would allow me to setup the GPS as a comport or BT port to do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Using the Vogue and GPS as a receiver

check this out

http://sourceforge.net/projects/gpsproxy/

it is an alternative to gpsgate, which does what you are asking for, but gpsgate costs money, gpsproxy is free.

Re: Using the Vogue and GPS as a receiver

I was looking for this same feature for use with my laptop and stumbled upon: http://users.skynet.be/hofinger/GPS2Blue.html.

My laptop does not have bluetooth. I tried this and was able to get it to work through USB. Streets and Trips 07 picked it up and it was working fine.

Looks like this is what he needs, and I'm going to use it too... Thanks!

Re: Using the Vogue and GPS as a receiver

yes its very useful. Hey for Streets and Trips users i noticed on 05 it had pocket streets but in 07 that was not included on my dvd. If you want i can send you teh pocket pc version of streets and trips. If you have the legal retail version all you do is select the area and size map you want and export it as a .msf file then just copy it to the ppc and load it up.

Re: Using the Vogue and GPS as a receiver

I struggled to try to get this working several different ways with gps2blue and finally stumbled upon this how to page from GPSgate:

http://franson.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3973

I did what it said and now I can always share my vogue's GPS signal with my laptop to use iGuidance or whatever else.

basically, you will need gpsgate installed on both your phone and laptop. So, it is far from free, but it works like a charm even after hibernating the laptop.
