Add my own CABs to the Kitchen?

Hello all,

I cooked my first ROM yesterday based off the 3.02 sprint leaked ROM and I think I'd like to add my own CABs into my next cooked ROM. I have some stuff like SyncML client, patched Vogue HTC Home DLL, and others that I'd like to bake right into the ROM.

I found the Ervius Packages Creator program, walked through the tutorial, but still can't figure out how to make it work. Is there an easier way to accomplish this?

Thanks for the quick reply! Here's the steps I'm doing.

* Open up the Ervius application.
* Click "Open CAB file" and find it
* On the next window that pops up, I click the "extract cab files with original names in a folder". The default is to extract into C:\[package_name], but since i'm running Vista, that crashes the program with an access violation. So, I created a C:\packages\ and extracted into there.
* After it extracts, I click "exit" and I get a popup window that says, "U've cancelled creating pacakge from cab analyzer... exit!"

Let the cab analyzer pick the directory, just select ok. I'm also using vista and have installed into c:\6900\roms\tools\ervius_packager and works fine. I open up the program, select my cab, extract files (7th icon?), exit cabanalyzer. Then you set up your lnk files and create package. This makes a new directory where the cab file was containing your oem.

OK, I think I have that part figured out.. Now, how do I get it into BuildOS? I have the files (including the .dsm and .rgu) in BuildOS\USER_OEM\[my_package] , but BuildOS isn't picking it up.

You will need to restart the kitchen once you copy the oem directory over. If not, ask them here in the kitchen thread... http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=26114

Re: Add my own CABs to the Kitchen?

One thing that tripped me up at first, I had rar'ed the folder of the OEM similar to the way the PPCGeeks OEM package is. It seems that the folder should not be compressed, just placed directly in the USER_OEM folder. Maybe a certain type of compression would work, but I've had success leaving the folder as is. Maybe some else can clarify wether or not you can, or even should, compress your custom OEMs.

You should not compress it. Just leave it as is.

Thanks. If we want to submit some OEMs to include in the kitchen (with approval of course), should we just PM one of you guys here? Is there an email address for ppckitchen.org (couldn't find one)?
