Unusual problem flashing a Verizon Touch Pro

I've had a Verizon Touch Pro for about 2 weeks now and finally decided to flash it to something besides its stock ROM. I've been trying 2 days now. It still has the stock ROM.

I've unlocked the TP with HardSPL (with the Verizon version) and the BootLoader screen says Security Unlocked and also 0.35-C-SSPL as it should.

Then I tried to get various ROMs to flash to it (SSK, Mighty 4, Mighty 6 and a couple others) both from cabs and their respective Kitchens on the PC. (Changed PagePool to 8meg on some of them)

I've tried relocking (cabs and kitchens) and locking several times and it never gets past the Loading.... screen. Checking the BootLoader still shows unlocked.

Cleared Storage - the Verizon equivalent of a hard reset - from Memory control panel several times (which requires reprogramming *228 opt. 1) in between trying to flash. Tried flashing without reprogramming.

I've let the TP sit for up to 30 minutes with the Loading... screen up with no change.

In short, I've tried everything I know to do and everything I can find to do after searching (for 2 days) here and over at XDA and other places and it will not flash. I've tried all these steps in the proper order (and sometimes not - just to see what would happen after many failures)

I'm not new to flashing. I flashed my Alltel TP many times.

Does anyone have any ideas?

And I have been through most of this and XDA and several other places..... Like I said I'm not a total noob.... I flashed my Alltel Touch Pro many times... nothing really new to me.

Or did I miss something specific that you have in mind?

After unlinking the SPL it shouldnt read 0.35-C-SSPL. Mine reads SPL-0.35.CMONEX

Re: Unusual problem flashing a Verizon Touch Pro

OP, your device is NOT unlocked. like just posted above it should say SPL-0.35.CMONEX

every TP will say security unlocked when in bootloader. its not unlocked for flashing purposes..

here is the unlocker for a VERIZON touch pro. connect your device via activesync and then run this EXE after you unzip it. it will flash a new HSPL to your phone and unlocks it.

as usual, im not responsible if you brick your device, but this is the one that I have used on all three of my devices and a few of the guys at work.

Re: Unusual problem flashing a Verizon Touch Pro

I just went through the whole process again twice. After going to Wally World and buying a new computer even. I was running XP Pro SP3 on an older machine. Now I'm running Vista SP1 on the new one. DL' Windows Mobile Device center and I ran the unlocker from your post (same one I had but fresh DL) with the same results... stuck at "Loading..." with no progress bar.

Then I went to CDMA Raphael Elite Team page and dl'd the Verizon HSPL package, unzipped it and ran the SSPL Manual and it gave me errors also. Also ran the Raphael_VZW_HSPL_035 with the same results.

I truly believe this Touch Pro is either defective in some way or Verizon has found a new way to block the changing of ROMs. I never had any kind of problems like this with my Alltel TP with many ROM changes.

Re: Unusual problem flashing a Verizon Touch Pro

On my brand new VZW TP (Got it in the mail friday), Raphael_VZW_HSPL_035 package worked fine, went through what appeared to be a HTC Rom update application, then changed to the security unlocked SPL. If you're having problems with the HSPL package, try copying SSPL_Manual.exe to your phone and running it, then attempting to run the HSPL package again.

Re: Unusual problem flashing a Verizon Touch Pro

I've copied SSPL_Manual.exe to my phone and ran it several times clearing storage between and it either locks up the phone or gives me error messages. After that, I cleared storage and tried everything one more time under both OS's... I'm 99.999999% sure it's not something I'm doing or not doing. I've been in the computer field since 1973.

The phone must have some problem either mechanical/electrical or in the present OS with staying connected to ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Devices long enough to get started. it does show that it is connected and synced before I start trying to flash.

But the phone seems to work pretty well otherwise..... I just can't take it in and tell Verizon I can't get it unlocked... that would be pretty funny..
