Unlocking or just flash a new ROM for Touch Pro?

I have a sprint touch pro that i already flashed to metro pcs. I want to install a custom rom, but I am unsure if I need to unlock using Raphael_CDMA_HSPL_037 and then run the rom or just run the rom? In case i need to unlock, am i going to loose the settings that metro pcs already put inside the phone?

In order to run a custom ROM you need to unlock it first but as to your question if you will loose your settings I'm not sure.

You're not going to loose any carrier settings by unlocking the phone.
