Reading pim.vol file

I had a strange phone freak out, which I immediately backed up my pim.vol file to save my contacts like I always do. Now, it seems whenever I use total commander to restore the file, my phone radio dies and tells me I have no service. I also get no access to my contacts, no dialer and no anything. I believe the file is corrupted but was wondering if there is any way to manually edit the file, as to at least be able to read my contacts.

There are probably 15 different new contacts that I would like to save that I havent been able to sync to my computer with activesync. And like an idiot I overwrote the old file.

Is there a solution? I am googling right now to try and figure it out but I am not getting anywhere...

TIA

Re: Reading pim.vol file

Try is see if you are able to open the pim.vol in "notepad"......

Now it will look pretty scramble computter code..but just keep scrolling down...and you will start to make out the number to contacts....I had to do this once...it was a PITA, but it got the job done.

Re: Reading pim.vol file

Yep, I see the numbers now. Talk about a pain in the ***! Oh well, I found a few threads while googling that said the same thing. Thanks for the help.

I think I will back up all my contacts in multiple places next time.
