Unhappy Is it possible to use it's internet for a laptop?

My university is having major internet issues right now. The wireless is all down for the next month or so while they rebuild a building.

I don't know what it's called but I've heard of people using their phone's internet as a modem type thing... Is that possible? If so what's it called. I would love to use that as a solution for the next 2 months.

It's called tethering. Are you running a custom rom?

Re: Is it possible to use it's internet for a laptop?

its called tethering there is a program called internet connection sharing whish allows this to work if you are running a custom ROM then more than likely it is included, if you are using a stock rom then you will be charged up the a$$ for using ics. i just plug my touch ro into my laptop using the supplied usb and then hit internet sharing on my phone when it pops up and im good to go, not sure if its the same for vzw though.

Oh nice! Yeah I am actually. I'm using the first one that got posted using the kitchen. This is my first visit back in a while (shame on me.) I'm really looking into this mighty rom. I'm sure some major upgrades have occurred since I got this one.
