Touch Pro keyboard broke...kinda funny and ironic

Alright guys, I think this is kind of funny and ironic considering how everyone is trying to get the TP2 upgrade from a broken TP.

So my keyboard decided to crap out on me right when I got my touch pro to work beautifully with RootRom. Now, I now the TP2 is an awesome phone and all, but I wanted to stick with the TP. (I guess I kind of got used to everything about it, and I would rather have flash because I take a fair amount of pictures.) So I went to the Sprint store hoping they would just give me another refurb TP. To my surprise, they said all they could do is upgrade me to any Android device and the TP2! I asked if I could just get another TP and the repair tech basically said no!

While I was talking to me, he said he could order me a TP2 but it was going to be refurb. I asked him what came with the phone, and he said it only comes with the phone, no battery. He stated that the battery for the TP and TP2 are the same! I didnt know this for sure, but I was 90% sure they were different. So I decided not to take the offer and call Sprint because I thought the tech didnt know what he was talking about.

I called Sprint, and I guess the tech wrote a note that my phone needs to be replaced with a TP2, so the reps only offered me a TP2 and said that they can't give out refurb TPs....? Which I thought was weird since alot of members are being offered that.

Lol, so all in all, I think its pretty funny and ironic this happened. All I want is a TP! lol. Anyways, I'm thinking about going back to the Sprint store, because I really need a keyboard!

wow you are so ridiculously lucky. i'm waiting for my keyboard to crap out so i can get my phone replaced (my screen also cracked).. last time i got a replacement they told me i couldn't have the tp2. i would've given anything for them to FORCE the tp2 on me! haha. let's just hope that my keyboard finally craps and they offer me one like you. this is good news!

Just curious, why don't you want to upgrade to a TP2?

Well, like I said, the TP2 is an amazing phone. But hardware wise, its essentially the same phone. (Minus the screen....which is pretty damn sexy.) Software wise, I hear it runs a lot smoother.

I'm just used to my TP, and mine is pretty smooth. I've never really had any problems with it at all. I take alot of pictures so I would like to have a flash, it just makes for nicer pictures. Finally the ROM. I'm telling you, you guys might think I'm crazy or something but RootRom (there are alot of them) are just amazing for the TP. The chef pays close attention to detail and that ROM basically makes the TP blazing fast. So now if I get the TP2, I'm going to miss out on that ROM. (Like I said, it is that good.)

I guess it would be awesome if the chef develops for TP2...which I think he might. But still! lol.

you could always fix the keyboard on your own, a lot of guys on here have done that on here, there should be a thread for it i think. it's actually supposed to be fairly easy, but it will void your warranty if you have to punch your "void" sticker under the battery cover. im on my 4th TP, and my sticker is already punched, so if my keyboard craps out, im diggin' in!

that tech is an idiot, they do not use the same battery, i got both phones and the batteries are completely diff, you were right.

I still like the TP1 as well... My TP lasted 15 months... but sadly earlier this week, I started getting microp errors, and losing display brightness. So I took it to the sprint store, and they were no help, they told me to deal with asurion... I did everything via the web so I didn't know what type of replacement I would receive, but luckily I got a new in the box TP1 (didnt think there were anymore NIB's left, was expecting a refurb), I would have been content with a TP2, but REALLY would have missed my camera flash... until sprint releases a device with the HD2 specs, and a hardware keyboard, the TP1 satisfies my current needs...
