Soft reset after application install - must or best practice?

I do a lot of ROM upgrades and when going through the install process there are some apps that say you should do a soft reset after installation and some that don't.

I know some posters soft reset after EVERY app install.
Some after EACH one that asks. (this is what I'm currently doing, install all that don't require soft reset, then do soft reset after each one that says I should)
Some that may do all installs and only reset after ALL apps have been installed.

So what's the answer, is it a best practice to do one of the above or is it a requirement in how they are installed for them to function correctly.

I just know I spend a lot of time waiting for the phone to reboot after each soft reset.

Re: Soft reset after application install - must or best practice?

i install all, then soft reset. if im installing 1 program i soft reset wether it asks me to or not. i know its not really required though for some apps, as google maps and a few others auto start the program after install without a soft reset. now after an uninstall on any app or program i always softreset.

Re: Soft reset after application install - must or best practice?

If I'm entering them manually I'll do a SR if the device states it's needs it, if not, I'll do it after I'm done. I've got a taskbar and a CDMA fix for it and both will ask for a SR after each installs, those I will just do one after they're both installed. I also use sashimi for loading most of my cabs and it just does one SR after all have been installed, so who knows what's right. If it works for you and doesn't cause problems, keep doing it until you have a problem.

Okay, I just wasn't sure if there was some technical or code conflict that might happen. Guess I got some testing to do.

Re: Soft reset after application install - must or best practice?

Technically youre not supposed to but I've done it. I just have to be careful when I do install app that works with or share stuff with other apps. Those I soft reset each install. For example if I need to install a dusk theme and then sliders. I reset after each install.
